Great condition, excellent layout. Greens are fair, not overly gimmicky. Can be busy at times, but play moves along nicely. Always enjoy playing here. Can be very busy on the weekends, so don't expect to whip thru your round. The front is walkable, but there is a steep hill between #6 & #7. Just take your time and you'll be fine. There is water on #4, #7, & 16 in the form of water fountains. The back is very walkable, even for us old timers. This course is best when it's walked early in the morning and in the evening. The staff is friendly and the burgers are excellent! They now have 2 simulators which is nice. The practice green is large, and there is a chipping green with a sand trap for practice. No driving range. Ample parking and easy to get to. Highly recommended.

Normally this course is amazing, I can understand with the heavy rains that the traps are in below average condition. This review is for the club house. I have golfed at Hawthorne multiple times and invited a friend who had to rent clubs. When the clubhouse gave us the set of clubs the attendant stated that there was no driver because someone who previously rented the clubs had broken it. My friend was ok with only having a 3 wood as his biggest club. The attendant further stated that this particular set which was left handed is rented very often. During the course of the game the 3 wood head broke off causing my friend to have to finish the game with a 4 hybrid. At the end of the game I returned the clubs and explained to the attendant that the 3 wood broke and that whoever rented the clubs prior to us must have treated them a little more harsh then he initially stated. I left and as my friend returned from the restroom he was stopped by the attendant who had the clubhouse manager on the phone. She stated that my friend would have to replace the clubs prior at a cost of $225 because that set was brand new. Being the person he is he paid the $225. There was no signed rental agreement that requires replacement of damaged clubs. And based on the fact that there was not a complete set to start with I don't believe the club was new to begin with. The clubs were also not in brand new condition when they were rented. I have spent over $1000 and this course over this season and I will no longer be a patron of the Ozaukee County golf system.

Hundreds of bees in each and every sand trap. Any ball that entered a trapwas not playable. Would have been nice to know prior to playing. Also would have been nice to know that the fairway grass would be as long as the rough. We were at least a hole and a half in front of the group behind us, yet the ranger still told our group we were behind. Not worth $70 and today confirmed why I will never purchase a county card.

Beware there are two holes on the front nine under construction. There is no mention of this anywhere on their site. We also had a reservation for three and they added a 4th but they had to ride in our cart because they were short on carts. Disappointed on both counts!!

Very good course, very well maintained. Every employee we had contact with was extremely friendly and helpful .
