Actually 9 hole course they made into 18 by changing tee locations on each hole. A little confusing as to who has right of way when playing with a group on both tee boxes at the same time.

OK, full disclosure requires me to say that this is my home golf course, which I describe as a "diamond in the rough" with the emphasis on "diamond" to my golfing friends, and those who have played it wholeheartedly agree. Designed by the guy who also designed Augusta National, for goodness sake. Throw in the unique design features (multiple parallel fairways with huge shared greens) and you get a truly unique golf experience. Friendly red tees with gold, white, and blue options as well for a variety of challenges. Very friendly staff and incredible views over the marina to Lake Superior from the driving range/putting green/clubhouse. Unusual in all the best ways I would argue. We are lucky to have such a gem of a course where, as the locals like to say, "Every green is an island green!"

…initial disclaimer…I worked here building the marina in the 60’s, and have played golf off and on since then. This course is, indeed, a Diamond in the rough. There are times when I wished the rough were less so…but then I took responsibility for my errant shots, and soldiered on. It is not as perfect as some might wish, but it is also not as expensive…though it is likely more expensive to maintain, due to its’ far north location. The shared greens are problematic to the uninitiated or the impatient, but we try to remember that the “back nine” has the right of way…otherwise everything backs up. The views on the lakeside holes are as magnificent as the narrow fairways in the woods are thrilling, and, depending on whether one hits the ball straight, well, it’s golf… This course is a gem, and modestly priced for the value. The casual player coming and going same-day may not enjoy it…it is not a “fast” course to play. It, and for that matter, Madeline Island are destinations in and of themselves rather than something to be checked off a list.

Very fun, unique and historic course. For those complaining about the price/quality of the course, you should consider the fact that you are on an island in rural Wisconsin. We had so much fun playing here over Memorial Day weekend. Robert Trent Jones Sr. design makes it even more special, shared greens and fairways made for a round I won’t soon forget. Exited to return

The prices should reflect the course and they do not. Poorly maintained, shared tee boxes/greens make it confusing. Can't imagine if the course was super busy. If it was cheaper we would have played 4 times, instead it was a one and done. 9 holes at twilight, a cart & 2 beers were $92.00. Especially, not worth taking the ferry over just to do, would go else where. (You'd think after having so many of the same reviews there'd be some changes. So we gave it a chance.)
