Augustine is a Stafford County course with a “modern championship” feel—long enough to be tested, but routed to stay playable for everyday golfers. The course is named for George Washington’s father, and the vibe leans into that Virginia heritage while still feeling like a contemporary daily-fee experience. Visually, it’s framed by trees with bright bunker lines and fairways that encourage confident swings, but the real scoring challenge shows up on approach shots and around the greens. You’ll often find that being on the correct side of the fairway matters more than simply hitting the fairway, because angles into greens can change dramatically. It’s a well-rounded layout for a serious round, a tournament day, or a “let’s see what I’ve got” test when you want a tougher card.

Staff is friendly and the course has a great layout, but the shag like greens made putting no fun.

Course is in good shape, but many of the tee boxes are in bad shape or under renovation. Greens are good, cart path is in decent shape. Only one porta potty on the course on the front nine. Lots of poison ivy in the woods, so stay on the course! Gas powered golf carts, ours had trouble starting.

Great club house and pro shop. Giving five stars based on event space and food/ beverage options, but from other reviews if the greens were improved it would be a better golfing experience.

I typically do not write reviews, but I am sharing my group’s experience regarding course conditions and service as of April 18, 2026. As posted by a different person 6 years ago, the course is an absolute disaster. The greens were not mowed and were severely bumpy! The tee boxes and fairways were riddled with weeds (ie. dandelions). In addition, the fairways were patchy leading to uneven lies throughout. Most times it was tough distinguishing the rough from the fairways (see attached photo of the “fairway”). The course looks as if whoever owns it has given up on maintaining it. I equated it to a cow pasture ☹️ Despite playing a complimentary round (gift certificates), I still did not find value for the money we did not spend! It is definitely not worth the $80+ they normally charge. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and professional.

I have a variety of experiences at Augustine ranging from great to only average. The pace of play can be an issue at time out here, and the greens have seen better days (they were actually solid about 4 or 5 years ago). The food is great and the clubhouse is spacious with nice views of the 18th hole, and I overall quite like the layout.
