Description

Mariner’s Landing on Smith Mountain Lake is all about the setting—lake views, rolling land, and a relaxed resort-community vibe that makes the round feel like a getaway. The course routing typically uses elevation change to create dramatic tee shots and varied approach demands, which keeps the golf interesting even if you’re mostly there for the scenery. Wind and terrain can change how holes play, so distance control and smart targets matter more than the yardage on the card suggests. It’s designed to be enjoyable for a broad range of golfers, often with multiple tees and playable landing areas. If you want a Virginia round that pairs golf with vacation energy and big views, Mariner’s Landing is a great fit.

Fairways are tight and the greens are fairly small. Pace of play was more than four hours. The course has a lot of rough and makes it difficult to find your ball if you're not in the fairway. This definitely adds to the pace of play. The new clubhouse is very nice - get the chili cheese dog! Kudos to one of the staff members who brought us a different cart because our screen wasn't working. Carts have GPS which is nice. Beautiful scenery. Greens were in pretty decent shape. Fairways could use some TLC and keeping the rough lower will help with pace of play. Overall, a fine experience, but it's not quite in the shape it could/should be.

Depends what you are looking for. I found the people working there were nice. The course wasn’t busy on a Thursday morning. It was about $65 for 3 people to play, with a cart and a bucket of range balls. I played with my wife and 8-year old son, so it was good for us, but compared to the standards at typical golf courses, the course is in terrible condition. The greens were about as slow as putting on the fairways at most courses. The 5th hole has nice views and is fun to hit over a part of the lake.

Not sure what the other recent reviews are talking about, but I just played the course and really enjoyed it. Very friendly staff, reasonable price, and the course was in good shape. Really fun layout and I was basically the only person out there on a Sunday afternoon. Would definitely play again.

$300+ for our foursome, Here's some photos from the course, It's in the worst condition I've ever seen. You guys should say something before paying because it's so expensive. What a joke.

Used to love coming here when I was younger but the recent “upgrades” aren’t worth the price for the experience. The fairways are still a dirt patch, and the new gps carts will totally cut off if you drive even a couple feet off the cart path onto the fairway. All that aside, after having to physically push our cart back onto the path last weekend, and wait for it to fully reboot, the course marshal came by and berated us for not playing fast enough (when we were keeping up a good pace up until that happened). Save your money and play literally anywhere else in the area. I for one will not ever be coming back here after how rudely we were treated by the course marshal
