Played two rounds in one week which were completely opposite experiences. Note there is no clubhouse right now... Cypress course = 2 stars due to poor course condition & pace of play (I left before finishing) Tradition course = 5 stars due to excellent course condition & cart girl 👀

I recently played a round at Cypresswood Golf Club just north of Houston and came away impressed with the overall experience. The club features two full 18-hole courses, the Traditions Course and the Cypress Course, set among mature trees, water features, and well-placed bunkers that give the property a classic parkland feel. The Traditions Course stands out as the more challenging of the two and offers a strong test of golf without feeling unfair. Tee shots require some thought, and approach shots into the greens reward accuracy. The layout flows nicely through the property, with enough variety in hole design to keep the round interesting from start to finish. The Cypress Course is a bit more forgiving and relaxed, making it a good option for casual rounds or players looking for something less demanding. Conditions were solid during my visit, with well-maintained fairways and greens that rolled true. The clubhouse and pro shop staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming. Like many popular public courses in the Houston area, pace of play can slow down during peak weekend hours, but that comes with the territory. Overall, Cypresswood Golf Club offers a quality golf experience with two distinct courses and plenty of character. It is a great option for Houston-area golfers who want a well-designed layout, scenic surroundings, and a dependable place to play without needing a private club membership.

Great golf courses and club. The teachers (shout out to Ray and Tyrell) are very knowledgeable and help you improve your game. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are properly cared for. However, tee times being 8 minutes apart can rush the pace of play, often having to either wait for the group in front, or force you to play quickly to finish the hole and avoid stalling the group behind you. Other than that both courses are wonderful to play in.

Played the Cypress course for the 1st time and would definitely come back. Fairways and greens are in really good condition. Fun layout. The clubhouse is going through renovations but made no difference to me. Friendly front desk staff and Marshall. I saw a lot of reviews complaining about pace of play but my group finished in about 4h15m. There were points of congestion but never felt particularly slow compared to other courses. The visibility of other holes through some sparse tree lines gives an illusion that there are a ton of people on the course which probably adds to the feeling that everything is moving slower than it actually is. We all want to finish a round under 4 hours, but realistically, I took no issue with the pace here. Would play again.

I played there on 12/27/25 The course is actually nice but the staff and the management need to actually work. The starter literally watched the group in front of us take almost 20 minutes on the first hole (and hitting multiple balls) and did nothing about it. Our group had to wait about 20 minutes to tee off in every hole and there was never a Marshall. Then one of our carts died and it took them almost 30 minutes to bring us another one. In 4 and a half hours we only played 11 holes. Not worth the drive and the green fee.
