Beautiful course, staff was great except for it’s really hard to play as a double here. It seems they try to push everyone into a foursome. Other than that, I know it’s always a busy course, and somewhat understand, I’d love it more if I could play as a double with my husband. It’s kind of our new thing to do together.

I would avoid on the weekend. They book too many tee times and can't get everyone out on time. Today we were waiting thirty minutes after our tee time for the group in front of us to get a second cart because the course was turning them as they came in off 18. When we finally got a cart ourselves a rude, dirty, employee told us to "stop b*tching" about it. They sell $100 tee times they can't realistically handle then cuss you out to boot. 0/10. Westridge is right down the road, privately owned, and always polite. Do yourself a favor and book there instead

The course played well, and was maintained very nicely. The service however was a little slow at the clubhouse (waited over 10-mins for service) no one ever came to take our order. The course only has one service cart on the grounds, so it may be a while before you see the cart girl come your way - so it’s a good idea to load up your ice bucket with waters and bevs before heading out on the course.

We were in McKinney for our family’s Thanksgiving and I wanted to take my brother-in-laws golfing for the first time. I called around to a few courses and ended up talking with David at Oak Hollow—easily the best decision of the day. David was awesome right from the start. We joked about Texas Tech (we’re from Lubbock), and he not only took care of us with a tee time but even hooked us up with a great discount. I’m pretty sure the Tech banter sealed the deal. 😂 The course itself was amazing—beautiful layout, great features, and the perfect mix of fun and challenge, especially for first-timers. My brother-in-laws had an absolute blast, and it ended up being a highlight of our trip. Huge thank you to David and the whole team at Oak Hollow. If you're in the area, this is the place to play. This is my local course and I’ve been here on the range at least twice sometimes more a week. Played a the course few times but not a generally enjoyable experience so I stick to using the range. Course is in bad to okay shape 90% of the year other 10% it’s unplayable (pure mud). Fairways are either okay or just dirt with patches of grass and there’s not any consistency from hole to hole. Greens are similar some are pure and nice others are more dirt than grass. (Which I suppose is typical of Texas public courses but worse than what I’ve experienced at similar priced courses) Driving range is all grass which is what I prefer but last 5-6 times I’ve gone just to hit a few range balls I’ve been turned away for various reasons that are odd to me and with service that rubbed me the wrong way. “We ran out of range balls” was used 3 times as an excuse (Showed up around 5:00pm on a weekday after work, never had this before at any other course or range I’ve been to so the first two times I assumed that I got unlucky but 3 times is crazy to be out of range balls at a golf course on a weekday) “We close the range at 6:30pm” (I was at the desk at 6:33 so I understand I am technically past the time but it was summer and we had at least another hour or so of light and there were still people on the range. Also the worker at the desk was barely paying attention to me while talking on his phone sitting down - I’m not expecting 5 star service from a public golf course but that was pretty bad) “Range is closed to because of rain” (Totally fine with closing range for rain if it had already rained or rain clouds coming or expected but there wasn’t a drop of rain for the week or that day and clear skies so not sure the reasoning for the closure) I’ve had generally good experiences with the guys who worked there before these last few times - super nice guys who chatted with me and would recognize me when I came in or on the range. The last few times it’s been different guys who aren’t helpful, sit on their phone until you say something, and look annoyed that you showed up to the course. Again not looking for the absolute pinnacle of service because it’s a public course in McKinney Texas but I think golf courses have a certain standard to uphold and this falls below that for me. Hope this next time I go to range I am able to hit some golf balls.
