Very peaceful. We stayed in an RV. Nice trails, small fishing creeks, sure to see wild life. We also visited the pool which had a friendly group working there. Park rangers and office personnel were helpful too. Small gift shop inside with a few necessity options but town is just a few miles down the road.

First tome visiting and we love it. Great trails-some more challenging than others. Trail map is well labeled, and the trails as well. Camping sites look great-the entire area feels very safe.

Hit this nearby park for the first time the day after Christmas. It is a small state park, probably most utilized for its nine hole golf course. Trails are limited, but well maintained and generally very easy to hike. There are educational markers and even a storytelling trail for the kids. It is dog-friendly, and my pup and I got in an easy 3 1/2 miles. It was uncrowded, and we probably encountered no more than 13 or 14 other hikers on the entire route. It is mostly shaded, although at this time of year, most of the leaves on the surrounding trees had fallen for the winter, of course. There are no real scenic views to speak of, but the woods were pretty and peaceful and made for a nice hike. Staff at the park office were friendly and helpful.

I enjoyed hiking the trails to take a break from the highway while on a roadtrip. It was well worth the $3 entrance fee. While I've seen prettier landscapes, the ones at Lockhart are decent. No waterfalls, apparwntly, the creek onky flows when it rains... But there are a few nice views from the higher elevations of the hiking trails. They have some flatter trails and a few that are more challenging. I hiked several as they were short. I managed to finish 5 in 30 minutes, and it was an enjoyable hike. Lockhart also has a golf course, camping spots, and a swimming pool (in season). It would make a nice place to camp out for a weekend get-away. The gentleman at the office was kind and helpful.

I visited the park on Nov 5th, 2025. I first stopped by the nature center, which was still open. I picked up a few maps and got information about the park. The park was nice, and the staff were helpful. Then I drove to the trail area. The trails are really beautiful, but they are short, so I would say the hike is easy to moderate. I liked the layout of the park, and I recommend getting the park pass so you don’t have to pay the entry fee if you enjoy state parks and hiking.
