The Golf Club at Texas A&M is a challenging and well-maintained public course. The recent renovation has elevated it to a must-play, with fantastic, fast greens and a great layout. Friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere make for an excellent experience. Highly recommend!

I have had the opportunity to play this course a number of times over the past month and my opinion has changed. While I was originally underwhelmed, I have started to come around. The staff and check-in/starter experience have been nothing but positive for me (so far I haven't even been asked to share a cart, we had 3 in 3 carts). The course itself is quite interesting. Fairly short but very creative and allows for varying levels of risk taking. The tee boxes need to be leveled, but are generally in line with other muni courses I've played in Austin. The fairways do have some browning and patches but I have to remind myself that is the end of summer and they have taken a beating. Where this course really stands out to me is the greens. The condition of the greens is night and day compared to the rest of the course. The last time I played they were rolling at a 10 (conveniently posted in pro shop) and so far have rolled pure from my experience. I think it is a decent value at $55, and I think if you come into your experience with adjusted expectations it can be a very enjoyable course

It’s in rough shape now. I wish the greens crew and superintendents luck this season they have there work cut out for them. I emailed the assistant pros a week before the tee time and never heard back from either. So a little disappointed in that lack of communication. The staff inside the club house were nice. IMO The club house is also due for a renovation a lot of water stained tiles in the drop ceiling. Looking forward to my next experience at the golf club at A&M

The golf course is very nice and very challenging. Staff were friendly and helpful. The governors on the carts restrict access to much more of the playing area than is really necessary. The rough is impossible to play, unkept, and slows play. Only play here if you can hit every fairway and green.

Save Yourself the Trip — This Course Isn’t Worth the Drive I’m not in the habit of writing bad reviews, but this experience deserves a warning for fellow golfers. My husband and I golf (well, he golfs — I ride along due to a shoulder injury) 2–3 times a month. We decided to make the drive to College Station to try this course after checking their website and booking a tee time. When we arrived, we were met by two starters — one pleasant, the other a bitter, crabby man who seemed personally offended that I was in the cart without clubs. Apparently, “riding along” requires special permission and an extra fee — something nowhere on their website. He informed me I’d need to pay $20 on top of the “cart fee” already included in the posted rates. If that’s your policy, fine — but be transparent and post it online so people can make an informed choice before driving out. Rather than simply explaining the rule, the starter chose to be condescending, argumentative, and unnecessarily rude — treating me as though I was trying to sneak in without paying. At the front desk, the same energy continued. When I pointed out the lack of clarity on the website, the staffer rolled her eyes instead of listening — a customer service choice as dead as the grass on their greens. Speaking of which — the course itself? A sad mix of brown patches and crunchy turf that’s nowhere near “green.” If you’re going to nickel-and-dime guests for riding in a cart, maybe invest that extra $20 into course maintenance and staff training. As a PR manager for a major radio station in the region, I can assure you this course will be on our “do not book” list for client outings, and I’ll be sharing my experience with every golfer I know. Based on other reviews, management is aware of these issues but chooses not to fix them. We won’t be back — and I suggest you don’t go in the first place.
