The first ever round of golf I played was at Henry Homberg. I even called my home track for a time, loving to play it. I have just returned to this course probably after a year or so and it is in disrepair. The rough is absurdly long and inconsistent throughout the course. Likely comparable to Oakmont, where if it goes in the rough you might as well take a drop, because you will NOT find it. Of course, you can just say I’m a terrible player if I’m in the rough, but it doesn’t stop there. The fairways are full of weeds and extremely bumpy. Many times my 3some lost their balls in the fairway. It’s as if no one is out here mowing. In fact every time I see a mower they are driving the cart path, maybe that’s the only thing being mowed. The greens… They are in complete disrepair, fractured, full of weeds, and hard as concrete. Not one green was in even okay condition, they were out right terrible. I don’t know if you can tell from the attached photo, but it is awful. I felt like I was walking on concrete when I’d step on it. To put it simply, if you want to play a course that’s difficultly doesn’t come from its layout or genius design, but from its terrible conditions, Henry is the perfect fit for you. I really do like this course and I hope at some point it will be taken care of how it deserves to be.

I never thought i would stumble upon a course worse than Babe Zaharias úntil i came here. The rouge and th3 tee boxes were the same and the ball wiuld bounce too much

07/25/2026. Management seems to no longer care about course conditions. The greens have so much weeds growing you can never find a decent putt. Our foursome lost 6 balls "IN THE FAIRWAY!" Any balls that find the rough is lost 90 percent of the time. The tee boxes are overgrown with weeds. Of course we did have bad weather, but no other courses in the Golden Triangle has let their courses become such a mess. Maybe it was because of who the tournament was for!! I just don't get it!!

Came to play this place on a Sunday afternoon with my son. There had been no rain in the area for the last two or three days, yet it was cartpath only. The fairways were extraordinarily dry with the exception of these potholes filled with water. And the greens look like the grass in my backyard. Whether or not you make a 6 foot put out here is completely up to how many times it jumps left and right off the piles of crabgrass between your ball in the hole. I know this is a municipal course. And I don't expect that much for it but to pay $84 when I could have just stayed in my own backyard and got in the same quality golf is disappointing. I will not be coming back here ever again unless it is the only golf course left open in the area.

I saw the other reviews about the course that were negative, and thought the course was better than expected. The marshal on the other hand was not. When I booked the tee time for a men's church fellowship, I informed the course we had 5 people and two were new golfers, one of them being a 7th grader. While on the course, we were keeping pace with the players in front of us, but we're told we needed to play faster. One of the pastor's in our group went to apologize for slow play and was told by the marshal, "If you are not good at golf, you are not allowed to play here." When we went to the office about this to have a conversation with the manager, the marshal began to threaten to fight the pastor by getting in his face cussing and threatening him, but was restrained by the manager. After finishing the course, the marshal was still working. If any of my staff threatened a customer like that, they would be fired on the spot. I will not return, and that is a shame. I had fun on the course.
