Description

Gaylord Springs brings a links-inspired vibe to a riverland setting—wide horizons, strategic hazards, and wind in the equation. Tee shots demand commitment to preferred angles, setting up approaches into contoured greens. The short game is tested by tight lies and crafty runoffs. It's a thinking player's course that still offers room to swing freely. Bring imagination and a deft touch to score.

In General Gaylord Springs is the crown jewel of Nashville public golf—impeccably groomed from tee to green and screaming "tour-ready." At 6,981 yards from the tips, it’s a big, beautiful beast with wide fairways, strategic bunkering, and water in play on multiple holes, all set along the Cumberland River with skyline views. The course feels like it could host a PGA or Korn Ferry event tomorrow; every blade of grass is manicured to perfection. New clubhouse, top-tier facilities, and a practice area that rivals private clubs make it feel premium. The only real knock? Pace of play dragged our foursome to a brutal 5+ hours—frustrating on a track this nice. Deducting a full star for that alone. In Detail - Condition: Flawless. Fairways like carpet, bunkers perfectly raked with fluffy sand, tee boxes level and lush. Greens are fast, true, and mostly pristine—holding shots beautifully and rolling pure… except the 18th (see suggestions). - Clubhouse & restaurant: Brand new and upscale—clean, modern pro shop, great lockers/showers. Restaurant has solid food but lacks enough seating and ambiance; feels a bit cafeteria-like on busy days. - Practice facilities: Outstanding. Huge driving range with premium balls and targets galore, multiple putting greens that match course speeds exactly, plus short-game areas. Easily the best warm-up in Middle Tennessee. - Carts: GPS-equipped, smooth, and path-only to protect the turf. Suggestions for Improvement - Pace of play – This place is too good for 5-hour rounds. Station multiple marshals with real authority—GPS carts make it easy to spot and fix bottlenecks. Enforce ready golf and gaps; players will thank you. - Ball-mark enforcement on 18 – The final green had 40+ unrepaired marks when we arrived (an embarrassing eyesore after 17 pristine ones). Park a staffer there on weekends with free tools and a friendly reminder—Nashville golfers clearly know how to fix marks everywhere else! - Restaurant seating – Add more suitable tables for such an upscale course. Bottom line: Gaylord Springs is Nashville’s closest thing to a Tour venue—stunning conditioning, elite practice setup, and pro-level challenge. Fix the slow play and that rogue 18th green, and it’s an easy 5 stars. Worth every penny for a premium public round; just tee off early or mid-week to beat the crawl. Must-play if you’re in Music City.

Listen, the course is above average for the area. However, i don’t know who has taken over this operation… but a 6 pack of MILLER!!!! Is $50. Lol one mixed drink (double) is 40$. I love golf and I’m willing to pay for an experience. This course used to be that, but greed has got them. I’m sure the business model is…. We have a huge population, they will pay it. But I promise after living here for 2 decades, I will not be back. The course conditions are average at best. They can’t control the grain of their Bermuda greens. The fairways and rough have become closer to a sub par public course vs… what used to feel like a country club vibe (course wise). I stress to all out of towners, save ur money. Go play elsewhere. The cost of a tee time here used to be worth it, but now it’s all a tourist trap and locals pay for it by not being able to play this course regularly, and out of towners get screwed by not knowing. Management should rethink their strategy here. If u wanna focus on unknowing tourist… keep going as is. But if u want to actually provide an overall good value and service… plz plz plz go back in time and remove whomever has ruined this local favorite.

Very Nice Course and friendly staff. It’s very Beautiful. Just wish my game was on par with the course. Scottish style link course with hills, bunch of deep sand traps, water features, and next to the Cumberland River. Greens played really fast on this day. Paid about $100 (Military Discount) and played after 3 days of rain. Cart path only so it was a lot of back and forth.

This course is one of the premier courses in Eastern Tennessee. Now with that being said, I felt some of the amenities were lacking for a course of this high of caliber. The range balls were just the typical yellow balls, we were hitting off mats, the carts were something similar to what you see at a local public course, which I know this is a public course but for almost $100 per round I just expected the golf amenities to be a little better. The course itself was in great condition, it had rained the night before but the water drained really well. The bunkers were definitely an adjustment for me because I am used to soft soft here in the Carolinas and this sand was more packed but I just need to avoid them next time. The greens were a little slower than I am used to but still in great shape. The rough wasn't to penalizing at all. Great course and would probably play again when I come back to the area.
