Description

Old Fort mixes open driving corridors with precise approach demands into well-defended greens. The routing uses gentle elevation and water features to make you pick the right yardage. Misses rarely vanish, but angles into pins matter greatly. Conditioning is steady, making it a favorite for both practice and tournaments. Bring a plan, keep the ball below the hole, and you'll find scoring chances.

In General Old Fort Golf Course is a long, forgiving bomber's dream just southeast of Nashville, stretching to 6,980 yards from the back tees with a nasty slope rating of 73.3/139 that demands respect. Keep it straight and you'll score big; get wild and the length plus penal rough will add strokes fast. The front nine is open and straightforward, but the back nine elevates everything—shorter, more undulating, packed with gorgeous Tennessee hills and river views, and a step up in challenge. For a busy public course, overall maintenance is solid, though some spots beg for extra water. Pace of play was fine during my round, and the huge, spotless parking lot sets a welcoming tone. It's fun, fair golf with standout holes and a memorable back-side finish that makes the drive worthwhile. In Detail Condition: Greens steal the show—firm, fast, true-rolling with clever contours. Fairways are generally lush but feature a few dry/thin areas in the fringes. Bunkers are well-kept and strategic. - Tee boxes: Even, grassy, and divot-free for the most part. - Clubhouse & restaurant: Basic and underwhelming. Washrooms are rough and need a serious refresh; food options are minimal—plan to eat before or after. - Practice facilities: A real strength. Driving range boasts plenty of stalls, grass hitting areas (when available), and loads of target greens/flags. The oversized practice putting green matches course speeds perfectly… but no flags in the holes, meaning you're digging balls out after every sink. - Carts: Reliable, GPS-loaded, and speedy. Suggestions for Improvement - Practice putting green – Add flags to the cups. Fishing out balls after made putts disrupts the vibe on what's otherwise a fantastic warm-up area. - Ball-mark awareness – These greens are prime real estate—don't let unrepaired marks ruin them. Have staff hang out on a par-3 for an afternoon with free repair tools and a quick how-to; one session could educate the masses. - Clubhouse facelift – Upgrade the bathrooms and restaurant. They're the only sour notes in an otherwise enjoyable spot. More water love – Target the patchy dry zones with extra irrigation for wall-to-wall green. Bottom line: Old Fort is a hidden Nashville-area gem with monster length, a killer back nine, and practice perks that punch above its weight. Hit 'em straight, bring a divot tool, and skip the clubhouse snacks—you'll leave grinning and plotting your return. Solid value for straight shooters looking for a fair but tough test.

Reasonably priced large city course. Well maintained and in overall great shape. Good practice area and decent clubhouse with to-go style food. Plenty of water and bathrooms on the course. Greens roll true but they are “thick” and do not make a ball mark. Never pulled out my repair tool the whole round. It’s straightforward and a fun mid range course.

Beautiful golf course, they are remodeling too, expecting late fall 2024, I am excited to see how it turn out. Cost of driving range is getting higher, but I think everything is, staff is helpful and nice most of them. I have lesson with Trey Adam, he is Manager there too and he is so nice and great teacher. This year I will get the membership to take advantage of cheaper Drinks range, tee time and 6 hole court blooming field.

So after many years of not being around Murfreesboro Tenn. I finally made it back to one of my favorite places. Old Fort. I use to play a gold tournament once a year hear and at another course, I wont mention. It was a wonderful time playing this two day event. They use to have the first stage qualifier for the PGA Tour at this golf course back in the 90s. I will not be going back until the Course gets that old luster back for being what it use to be. A shame for what they charge now to play. First tee box had so much crab grass I had to move to the back tees. Also I was on the practice putting green, when all of a sudden the starter, started yelling and cussing about slow play. That he would not allow it. Come on Old fort. I would not want to introduce my son or daughter to golf with that being the first thing they here.
