A laid-back nine-hole track set on the rolling prairie just south of the Missouri River, Lake Platte favors accuracy over brute length. Subtle elevation changes and prevailing winds make the modest yardage play longer than the card. Fairways are open but approach angles tighten into compact greens that reward precise distance control. Locals rave about its friendly vibe and easy walking, making it a classic small-town South Dakota golf stop.

Got there in the off season. 5 of us put money in drop box and played 9 holes walking. Wish they had carts. Greens were nice but slow. Fairways needed mowing. We all enjoyed it anyway.

Great little course to play on. The wings in the bar were pretty good as well. Had a nice Fall day here.

Stopped in while traveling and could not have had a better experience. Very nice course and friendly staff.

Called them during the week to ask for a tee time on Saturday, over the phone they told me open golf. Found out from someone the day of that there is a golf tournament and that it was closed. Horrible communication with the staff. I would have showed up with my big group and wouldn’t have been able to golf. BETTER COMMUNICATION WITH STAFF!

A treasure to behold. An absolute gem of a course. Meticulously maintained and challenging to the beginning golfer and low handicapper alike. Put this on your South Dakota golfing bucket list!
