Description

Pete Dye's namesake at Barefoot is a formidable, visually striking test that rides the site's natural sand and waste areas. Angles matter off the tee and into greens, with trademark Dye deception in play throughout. Despite the intimidation, multiple tee decks make it manageable for everyday golfers. Barefoot's shared practice complex supports each of the resort's four courses. From the Platinum/Back tees the Dye plays about 7,343 yards, par 72, rated roughly 76.0/143.

Four well groomed and designed golf courses. Great main clubhouse and practice green. The driving range could have used some sod work, but overall well done. The Dye course has its own clubhouse and range...and that course is like playing on Mars with volcano type sand traps and waste areas everywhere. Staff was great at all locations.

What a course/beach! The Norman course was the most challenging course I’ve ever played. Very well maintained, in good shape, and tons of fun. The par 3s were extremely scenic. Some of the holes have absurdly sized sand traps that take up the whole fairway!

Course conditions were fine.. acceptable at the 177 price point for Norman. Pace of play was atrocious. We teed off with ample time in November to finish before sunset. 5.5 hours later as we finished hole 15 and the sun was setting we (as well as dozens of other golfers trying to finish) were removed from the course, told to leave without finishing and were not offered compensation. Club house closed. no option to complain or request rain check etc

Barefoot Resort & Golf in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, features top-tier golf courses designed by renowned architects such as Pete Dye, Tom Fazio, Davis Love III, and Greg Norman. Although the Norman course is picturesque, it doesn't quite match the spectacular nature of the others. The Fazio course stands out for its beauty and challenge, offering plenty of water hazards, sand traps, and "waste areas" of hard-packed sand. Our personal favorite was the Love course, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, despite being the most difficult of the four. Adding to its charm, holes 3-7 feature recreated ruins of an old plantation home, enhancing the historical ambiance of the golfing experience. Just a short drive away, the Dye course boasts its own amenities like a restaurant and driving range, following the signature Dye layout with ample sand and waste areas. Overall, our experience on all four courses was fantastic, leaving us eager for our next visit to Barefoot Resort & Golf.

Norman course, eh. Nothing really memorable. Ranger was not nice as we were on pace and kept pushing us. It did not make for an enjoyable experience. We played 18, cart path only for a few holes (5holes), first time playing the course in 4.15 hours. We didn't hold anyone up as we were told to hurry, hurry hurry. No one waited on us. As I said, nothing memorable for the course. Hoping for better tomorrow. Ranger was very rude, as he spent more time talking and taking time from hitting shots (talking as I was teeing off, out of the cart and on the tee) about picking up the pace.
