Nice course. The only reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars were condition and price. It’s a great course, but $85 is NUTS for the quality.

Booked a round here last month for a group trip. There was some light rain overnight, so called the course twice to make sure the course was in good condition. Both reps were virtual, and had no firm answers but still told us to go to the course. All the while, Google said it was open, tee times were bookable, and no notices were posted to their socials. Arrived 20 minutes before the 8:30 am tee time to find the front gate chained. Ended up speaking to three more virtual reps, all who had no confirmations for us and even said the course was open despite the chained gate. There were no people on the course. Don’t expect to talk to a human at Whispering Pine’s pro shop if you have questions, or get any considerations for wasting an hour commuting and waiting. Would have liked playing here.

I waited two weeks before writing this review. We were playing a round of golf late on a Saturday afternoon. There were only about three groups behind us. After finishing, we accidentally left our rangefinder attached to the side of the golf cart. We returned about 12–13 minutes later and told the gentleman working, Bob, that we needed to grab the rangefinder we forgot. Bob then told us that some kids had “ripped us off.” He explained that he approached them as they were pulling out of the parking lot and asked if they had forgotten a rangefinder. According to him, the kid hesitated, then one of his friends said, “Oh yeah, that’s yours,” and Bob proceeded to hand it to them. What I don’t understand is this: while telling me the story, Bob also mentioned that they were acting suspicious and “funny,” yet he still gave them the rangefinder. That immediately raised concerns for me. Bob said he felt guilty and even went to his vehicle to give me an older rangefinder out of his own golf bag. While I appreciated the gesture, it made me question whether my rangefinder was ever actually handled properly. Why wasn’t it placed in lost and found and claimed correctly? Or was there more to the story? A couple of days later, I called back to speak with Gene, who apparently runs the place. I explained everything to him, and he told me he would contact the group that played behind us and also speak with Bob to figure out what happened. After a week passed, I called again and was told they were still “investigating.” Two weeks later, I called back once more and was told Gene would call Bob again “to see what the story is.” What bothers me most is the complete lack of effort to genuinely help a local customer recover his property. Eventually, Gene called me back and said the company that manages the carts told him that property left on the course or in the carts is not their responsibility. That response alone was disappointing. There seemed to be very little concern or care about what happened. If you choose to play golf here, I would strongly recommend keeping a close eye on your belongings at all times. If a rangefinder can disappear this easily and the response is simply “we’re not responsible,” it does not inspire much confidence. It’s honestly sad because we played here several times a month and used the driving range at least once a week. When I play golf somewhere, I like to feel that my belongings are reasonably safe, and unfortunately I no longer feel that way here.

This course reminded me of my home course, staff is super friendly and try to accommodate every need. Course is pretty open and not too difficult, price is amazing for the area and this was an old military base so you will memorabilia through out the course. They also have these fox squirrels, they weren’t aggressive but they will jump in your cart looking for snacks, don’t feed them 😂.

Our group of four beginners played a 9-hole round after being told we could play until 8:00 PM. We started around 5:00 PM and played a scramble format to help keep pace. Despite this, the ranger/manager repeatedly approached us throughout the round telling us to hurry up, often in a passive-aggressive tone and making comments about wanting to go home. This made the experience stressful and uncomfortable, especially as beginners who were actively trying to keep up pace. What was most frustrating is that we finished within the timeframe we were originally given, yet still felt pressured the entire round. Clear expectations weren’t communicated in advance, and the repeated interruptions made it difficult to enjoy the game. While the course itself was fine, the customer service from the ranger significantly impacted our experience, and it unfortunately made us not want to return.
