Set inside Hilton Head Plantation, Dolphin Head is a Gary Player/Ron Kirby design with a coastal parkland vibe. Fairways are framed by pines and lagoons, and subtle elevation changes add interest rarely found at sea level. Lay-ups and angles matter as much as raw distance, particularly on holes where water pinches landing zones. Green sites are well protected but fair, with recovery options for smart misses. The course retains a classic island feel with modern conditioning.

Staff were great all around. We were provided a rain check without question after our first round was forced to be quit two holes in. The green fees were cheap compared to most courses on the island but the course provided our group everything necessary for a fun round. Great for the casual golf experience with beautiful views. Both men and lady rental club sets were high quality.

Most reasonably priced golf on the island. The staff was amazingly friendly! The course was beautiful. Fairways were a little dry, but I have not played any other courses on the island so I have nothing to compare it to. The cart paths are a little rough, but it did not affect my game. Definitely will play it again.

Fairly priced for what you get. Driving range was closed for no reason with no heads up. Pro shop mentioned we could hit on the indoor simulator to get some swings in but hard to use it when everyone else is trying to use it. Long line at first tee with multiple over booked tee times for the same time. Starter was nice and mentioned the round shouldn’t take longer than 4hr 30 minutes and most likely would be closer to 4 hr 15 minutes. Took us 4 hrs and 30 minutes to play 13 holes and had to leave early due to slow play which would’ve been easily fixed by having the marshal come out to speed up play. Back 9 had 3 groups waiting in line to play each hole. 15,16,17,18 holes were wide open while we were driving in after leaving early. All of this could’ve been easily fixed. Carts have GPS so the pro shop can see where the bottle neck is at all times. Most likely would’ve been a 6 hr round if we continued to play. Disappointed we couldn’t get to finish. I usually don’t leave reviews but I felt it necessary to give future golfers a heads up.

Dolphin Head Golf Club was a hit. We loved the layout and had fun practicing our short game. Lots of gators and a wonderful peekaboo ocean view on one of the holes. Beautifully designed and fun to play. We also saw a bald eagle 🦅 flying overhead. Absolutely stunning!
