Furman is always in good shape. It's not the most plush course in the world, but it is well taken care of. The fairways are well defined and in good shape, but usually a little harder. The layout is challenging but not overly difficult. The tee boxes are decent. The greens are the headliner at Furman. They roll fast for the area compared to all other courses. They are undulating and hard to hit. Your short game will likely suffer the first few times you play here. Many turtle shell greens that make it difficult to hold. The cart and practice areas are all well maintained. The club house is just an old school club house, hot dog at the turn.. This was a decent course, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The greens and layout were enjoyable, but the price felt high for the value provided. One of the most disappointing parts of our visit was how a simple situation was handled. We brought a small lunch cooler with bottled water because of the extreme heat. The employee in the pro shop told us we couldn't bring the cooler onto the course, but we could take the water out. That essentially meant carrying warm bottles of water or going without, which wasn't a very reasonable option given the weather. A little more flexibility and customer service would have gone a long way toward improving the experience.

Absolutely ridiculous experience. I brought my father, my 6-year-old daughter, and my 7-year-old son to enjoy a family day at the golf course. My children are not golfers. They ride in the cart, watch, and maybe once a hole ask to hit a shot before picking up the ball and getting back in the cart. Before we even started, I was told that if my children hit even a single shot, they would each have to pay a full greens fee. Fine. I accepted the policy and told the employee that my kids would not hit any shots. That should have been the end of the conversation. Instead, after we went to the driving range, an employee approached us again and asked us to put the kids’ clubs back in the car because they apparently didn’t trust us to follow the rules. Let that sink in. We were specifically told the policy, agreed to follow it, and were then treated as if we were trying to sneak people onto the course. I’ve played golf for many years and have never been treated with such suspicion and disrespect. There is a difference between enforcing rules and making paying customers feel unwelcome. Bringing your children out to spend time together and introduce them to the game should be encouraged, not treated like you’re trying to pull a scam. The entire experience left a terrible impression. Will spend our money elsewhere and won’t be returning. There are plenty of courses that understand how to treat families and customers with basic respect.

Very well maintained for a public course. Moderately difficulty but challenging. Glad they continue to invest in it. Still need to kill off some poison ivy. Lake needs fountain or bubbles for better condition. Snack bar needs more food selection. Carts are in good condition and are electric - very positive.

I would not play this course again if it was free. The staff were extremely rude. A staff member took it upon himself to move our golf cart 200 ft away from us and then sit 5 ft behind me in his golf cart while I’m chipping. Mind you no one was waiting and he was rushing us for no reason. The overall vibe of the course is very pretentious and pricey for. Also the tee times were so stacked that everything got backed up and people kept being rude. Overall would not recommend.
