Nice golf course! Long and open; but you can still lose balls in fescue. Greens roll nice and fast; but are not punishing. Course is well maintained. No driving range, but there is a net next to practice green to hit few balls to loosen up. When it’s windy, which it mostly is, it gets tricky!!!

If you are looking for a course that is overpriced and managed by jerks who don’t care about ripping you off this is the place for you. They have a 72 hour cancellation policy. Strict enforcement of a cancellation policy is fair when a course is busy and a late cancellation prevents the course from filling your slot. Strict enforcement (at $210) when you call two days in advance to cancel only one of four players and the tee sheet is literally wide open (at the time I called to cancel we were the only tee time scheduled that morning) is reprehensible gouging of the customer. The general manager could have cared less about screwing me out of $210 or about my family’s experience at his course. They don’t care if you come back (stupid business decision) they just want to gouge you for all they can now. Course is well kept and a nice layout but overpriced at $210 weekdays. Play elsewhere. Support courses that care about their customers.

Premium price for sub-par service. Course was in great shape, but on a 110 degree day, they had no water on the back nine and we never saw a cart girl until the 16th green. They had two rangers working yet the group in front of us held up the entire course; they had 3 holes open in front of them. Requested assistance from the cart…none came. As a result, this beautiful course sucks to play.

Absolutely outstanding golf course. Can't say enough about the friendly staff. This course is a must play if your a serious golfer.

Newport National pulled off the impossible: they built an extravagant new clubhouse and somehow made the golf experience materially worse. The new clubhouse is literally across the street and what feels like half a mile away from the actual golf course. So before your round, after your round, and anytime in between, you get the pleasure of crossing traffic and driving through a junkyard-looking access road just to get back and forth. Want to grab a drink or food at the turn? Forget it. The clubhouse is in another zip code. Then comes the power-trip management experience. You are not allowed to bring your cart to your own vehicle after the round. They force you through the bag drop process like it’s Augusta National and not a completely average public course in Middletown. The course itself is… fine. Conditions were okay. Greens were long, bumpy, and rolled nowhere near true. Nothing about the course justifies the attitude. And prepare accordingly because there is literally no water on the course — drinking or otherwise — unless you count the two bacteria-laden puddles masquerading as ponds. No beverage stations. No cart girl. Just one sad bottle of lukewarm water sitting in the cart cooler with no ice like it’s some kind of rationing exercise. Bringing your own cooler? Naturally, they’ll hassle you over that too. The one genuinely positive thing: the course was dead empty. By the end of the round, we completely understood why.
