John F. Byrne is one of Philadelphia’s most meaningful public golf assets—not just a course, but a community facility with a mission. Operated by First Tee—Greater Philadelphia, it’s positioned to keep golf affordable and accessible while also supporting youth programs and life-skills development. The vibe is welcoming and public-forward, and the emphasis is on keeping the facility strong for everyday golfers, juniors, and families. You’ll notice a “stewardship” feel: improvements and long-term plans aimed at making the property better over time rather than maximizing exclusivity. If you want a Philly public course that’s rooted in community impact as much as golf, Byrne is a great fit.

Great place , good price and most important a great staff! Grounds are kept in good shape. Can’t beat the price. Go at least once a month with my family.

Went out with my buddies for the end of the season last challenge match! Great time on this challenging course. Great elevations and fast greens. Will be going again next year

Played here twice so far the front once and the back oncs. Shot my personal best score here for 9 holes(40) and got my first birdie. A day to remember. I really like the layout of this course. I definitely like the front 9 better than the back. Good difficulty but also easy to keep the ball in play
