Description

Moon is a public course in the Pittsburgh area that offers a comfortable, repeat-play-friendly round with a straightforward but honest layout. The course typically rewards keeping the ball in play and choosing smart targets into greens, making it approachable for mid-handicaps while still testing better players through angles and greenside demands. It’s popular for leagues and regular groups because the routing flows well and the vibe stays welcoming. Scoring tends to hinge on approach distance control and putting, especially when greens are rolling and pins are tucked. Overall, it’s dependable Pittsburgh-area daily-fee golf: practical, accessible, and consistently enjoyable.

Played on 4/3/25. Course was in as good as shape as I can remember. All the rain the past week did not make the course swampy at all and only lush and green. All aspects of the course - greens, fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. Keep in mind if you have not played this course it is near the airport and in its flight path. You will have planes coming in for a landing over you every few minutes so don’t get distracted. Folks in the pro shop were were courteous. Nice day on the course.

Over priced and severely under maintained! 90% of fairways were dried up, tee boxes were not cut! Not one green was rolled prob all year. The best part about this place was the nice view of the airport off number 13 tee boxes! Will absolutely not be back. It’s a rip off for what they charge.

The husky ginger guy with the glasses isn’t the nicest chap. Seemed very edgy/moody with medium to low people skills. Didn’t smile once and wasn’t very approachable upon paying. If I didn’t know better it felt like he was offended I was trying to pay for golf. Wouldn’t you want to feel welcomed when trying to support any local business? I’m not trying to be too harsh…just what my intuition was telling me as we were interacting.

I've played over 20 rounds at MGC in the past few years and have genuinely loved the course. Unfortunately, under the new management, the course is becoming less accessible, more expensive, and less welcoming to loyal players. First, the pricing has jumped significantly this season — supposedly to a rate that “all players can enjoy,” but it’s hard to see how that holds up: 💵 Moon Township Resident Rate Increases (compared to last season): 18 holes +$7 weekday walk (now $30) +$9 weekday ride (now $47) +$5 weekend walk (now $35) +$4 weekend ride (now $52) That’s a steep increase across the board. I’ll be driving to other courses that are just as nice and more affordable — even though I truly enjoy the MGC course and how close it is to home. Second, a family member purchased me a gift card that was emailed to the wrong email address. I reached out multiple times and never received a response. It still hasn’t been resolved. Poor customer service and a lack of follow-through shouldn’t be the norm — especially when money is on the line. Lastly, they’ve removed the ability to book a tee time online as a single. Why? What problem does that solve? I frequently golf solo and appreciated the convenience of booking online. Now I’m told to “call the pro shop” — which often results in being lumped in with others despite there being open time slots. Why make it harder for single golfers to play? 👎 So far, new management has made MGC feel less player-friendly. I want to see MGC grow and succeed. It’s a beautiful course with great potential — but these changes feel like a step backward, not forward.

It's a great back up choice when your 1st choice is booked. A little too hilly to play regularly. People there seem nice. Watch where you park your car as the overflow lot is close to green on 18th hole.
