Avalon Buhl feels like a structured, well-used public course—busy in the good way, with a steady rhythm of regulars, leagues, and group play. The layout rewards smart positioning and approach distance control, especially if greens and surrounds ask you to be on the right side to avoid tricky two-putts. It’s playable for mid-to-high handicaps, but it can still test better golfers when pins are tucked or conditions firm up. The round tends to flow well when you stay disciplined and accept conservative targets, particularly on holes where hazards create risk/reward decisions. It’s a strong “repeat course” because familiarity helps a lot—once you learn where to miss, the course becomes more scoreable. Overall, it’s dependable Hermitage golf: approachable, organized, and easy to keep in rotation.

I would have given 1 star or none, but the staff is amazing. Never seen such bad greens in my life. Lack of water and maintenance has caught up with them. Already aerated with almost no grass on the greens. huge cracks everywhere. Tee boxes in bad condition, and overall just not a country club name worthy course. We will not return.

Can tell Ron K. and Christine B. do not care about this location. Plethora of people outside smoking having a ruckus, trash laying all over the grass and loading dock.. I'd personally be embarrassed to say I worked/ate/belong there 🤮🤮

Limited restrooms and clubhouse is not convenient when making the turn. Greens challenging. Fairways narrow. Overall nice

Top notch golf course that is extremely well maintained. Great amenities in the clubhouse. Nice electric carts and a simple GPS system that helps point out hazards during your round.
