My girlfriend and I traveled home to play golf with some hometown friends on Saturday, June 14th, 2025. Our drive was about 7-8 hours, as we now reside in Massachusetts. We had a group of four players scheduled to tee off, but needed a third cart because my girlfriend wanted to come along as a spectator and get introduced to the sport of golf. We politely explained the situation to the woman at the front desk and offered to pay whatever was necessary to use a third cart. She immediately shut us down, saying it was against course policy. (Please remember this detail for later.) Since we had five total people (four players and one spectator), we tried to solve the issue by having three people ride on one of the two carts we were assigned. Before we could even reach the first tee, we were stopped again and told that having three people on a cart was not allowed; again, due to "company policy." They stated that if our spectator (my girlfriend) wanted to join us, she would have to walk the entire 18 holes, while the rest of us used the carts. They were unwilling to consider any alternative or compromise, despite our willingness to work together to find a mutually beneficial solution. Naturally, my girlfriend did not want to walk the full 18, and no one in our group expected her to want or do so. It was also raining that day, so rather than enjoying the round or getting to observe, she was forced to sit in the parking lot for the entire duration of our round, which was 4-5 hours. That alone felt extremely disappointing. Now here's where things became truly frustrating. As we played without her, we noticed the group ahead of us had six people and three carts. This is exactly what we had requested and were told was not allowed. (See screenshot(s) for group of 6 who had 3 carts). We brought this to the attention of the front desk and showed them the photos. The same female employee then claimed that this group had spoken to the manager, who approved their setup. No one we spoke to was willing to take responsibility for the inconsistency or the unfair way that we were mistreated We left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and frankly, disrespected. We couldn't tell if we were treated this way because of our age (mid to late 20s), or simply because our spectator was a woman. Throughout the entire encounter, we were respectful and patient, yet were met with rigid, unsympathetic responses. Neither employee we spoke with operated with a shred of empathy or professionalism. If you or your loved ones are looking for a golf course that values consistency, fairness, and respect, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This experience was defined by inflexibility, inconsistency, and indifference. The only thing you will find at Blackwood is empty liquor bottles scattered throughout the course like an Easter egg hunt.

We had a great round until the 18th hole. We had 3 foursomes. We were the first group done, so we pulled our two carts out of the way waiting for our friends behind us to finish. A lady with short blonde hair came out with the worst attitude telling us we need to return our carts because her cart person was ready to leave. She was completely unprofessional and rude, like we were supposed to know her employee’s schedule. We were all polite to her. No need for the power trip. Grow up and learn how to conduct yourself with class. We definitely will not be going back.

Went to Blackwood today. Had a 8:40ish teetime. Rain fore-casted for after 12. Played 1 hole, then a deluge hit. Had to stop as the 2nd hole green was a lake. Putting on that woulda messed up the green. So we went back to the clubhouse and was told they'll be no refunds, rains checks, or even a discount coupon for like 10 bucks off or a half price teetime. We were told there was a "sign" that said no rain checks. No one said a word while we were paying, and there's a good 10 or so beat up "signs" that have been at at the pro shop for years. By the time we packed up to go, there was no one in the parking lot. So Blackwood did pretty good today...charged our group for 18 and only had us play a couple holes. Heck they coulda given us a 10 buck coupon and still made money off of us! Why not? We've been coming to Blackwood for years...even had a tournament there. And it's a 35 minute drive for our group...that's how much we liked the course! And I get it, they had the right to deny us even a partial refund or rain-check. But you know, you treat good customers like they did today, and good customers become ex-customers. And now, that's what we are. Caveat emptor.

I am a beginner and this course offers enough of a challenge. There are only 2 water holes and 2 holes where the flag is not visible from the tee. An accomplished golfer would most likely not consider it a challenge. The greens are in excellent shape.

Cozy course here, a great track. I’m a typical walker and this one is a stretch, but I’ve experienced far worse. The back nine opens up a bit. Well maintained course, and always friendly staff. Great local course here, would recommend to anyone.
