The Country Club of Scranton is a tradition-rich private club with a classic, established identity and a course built for repeat member play. The layout rewards thoughtful strategy—angles matter, and approach distance control is central to scoring well. It’s the type of course where greens and surrounds often do much of the defending, so short game and putting speed can decide whether you save pars or leak strokes. The club cadence typically feels golf-forward and community-driven, with member events and competitive play shaping the season rhythm. Better players will appreciate the classic shot values, while mid-handicaps will enjoy it most by playing conservative targets and staying patient. Overall, it’s quintessential NEPA private-club golf: refined, strategic, and tradition-leaning.

Wind was brutal so it impacted the full experience, however the course was in awesome shape. Difficult track with a great layout, deep bunkers being in tough spots, some nice tight driving holes and lightning fast greens. Greens all protected and almost all have runoffs if you miss, leading to lots of opportunities to putt from off the greens. This is definitely a course where it pays off to have played before, simply because of the greens, which rolled very fast but completely true.

What a two day golf Pro Am Tournament benefiting the Childrens Hospital! Sponsors were fabulous and the Club was the best to host this event. The food, the servers, all were spectacular. They left nothing out. Live music on Friday night was an excellent choice. All patios have a fabulous view. Golf course is in fabulous condition. Winner in every department!
