Monterey is a traditional SEPA private club with a classic parkland layout and a steady member-forward rhythm. The course typically rewards accuracy and angle control—positioning off the tee matters because approaches become tougher when you’re out of line. Greens and surrounds often decide scoring, demanding good distance control and smart misses to avoid short-sided recoveries. The atmosphere is polished but comfortable, with leagues and events shaping a consistent club cadence. Overall, it’s refined suburban private-club golf: strategic, repeatable, and built for steady iron play and putting.

Great little 9 hole golf course for learning the game!

Beautiful area and nice people. The course is very old school as advertised, but it is in really rough shape. The greens are extremely patchy and the fairways are long and rough. Good short little course unless you are serious about quality golf courses.

Recently got back into golf with some friends, and Monterey has been a great course to learn and enjoy the game again. It’s beginner-friendly while still fun for seasoned players. Chad has been putting a ton of effort into the course, He’s passionate about bringing this course back to life, and if you get the chance to chat with him, you’ll see how much he truly cares about the place. Excited to see how Monterey continues to improve.

If you are looking for a place to just wack balls than this is the spot. Technically 18 holes because each of the 9 had a 2nd tee box. Fairway grass was basically yard grass or rough cut short. Greens had not been cut and the cups were very overgrown like they had not been cut in a LONG time.
