Description

ndian Run in Avella is a relaxed, countryside layout that feels like a true escape from urban golf—quiet, scenic, and built for repeat enjoyment rather than formal competition. The design emphasizes steady, in-position golf, where keeping the ball on the right side of fairways and choosing conservative targets into greens usually leads to the best scores. Water and natural features show up in a few places, so there are real course-management decisions to make, but the overall experience stays friendly and accessible for golfers of many skill levels. Mixed groups find it especially enjoyable because it’s playable without feeling too simple—the course has enough nuance to keep better players engaged through wedge play and putting. The atmosphere tends to be welcoming and local in feel, making Indian Run Avella a strong choice for league nights, casual rounds, and repeat play where comfort and pace matter.

The cart roads are not good, but the green is very well maintained and the green fees are very reasonable. It's a bit far from home, but it's worth going there.

I really enjoy this golf course, but I’ve got to be honest.. I've been debating posting this but after the wonderful encounter with bartender today I decided I was going to make a review .... the bartender who was working a lot of times during the week over summer has a terrible attitude and zero professionalism. Every time I’ve gone in while she’s working, it’s been the same thing: rude service, long waits (anywhere from 15–30 minutes), and an overall unpleasant experience. On top of that, her appearance is extremely inappropriate for a professional setting — it’s honestly uncomfortable how revealing her clothing is. She walks around acting like she’s above everyone, and it really gives the place a bad name. Multiple friends have stopped coming when she's working. However, when I went in this past week, she wasn’t there.... and what a difference!!! The woman who was bartending instead (a middle-aged lady) was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, professional, and one of the best bartenders I’ve had in years. It completely changed the atmosphere for the better. I really hope management takes a serious look at who they have representing their business, because one person can make or break the customer experience.

Let me start by saying that this is a very nice golf course for the area and well maintained...that being said, the tee time Management is absolutely horrible. Today was my fourth time to the course, I figured I would give it another shot but this will be my last visit unless I want to try and get 9 holes in towards the end of the day. I had a tee time scheduled through their website, but what you all need to know is that their websites tee time scheduling is separate from if you call in and schedule a tee time. I booked online as a solo and apparently it 'paired' me with a group of three others at the same tee time. I was told by the clubhouse that I could play by myself if I wanted to. I showed up 15 minutes early of my tee time and the group I was apparently paired with were on the first tee box. If a solo and group of three are scheduled at the same time (that shouldn't happen) then it very easily could have been explained to the group that a solo is scheduled at the same time and should have let me start ahead of them. The group ahead never had any interest in letting me pass. Not only that, but then once I finished the front 9 I stopped up to the clubhouse to go to the bathroom real quick and when I got to hole #10 there was a group of 4 seniors who came out of nowhere and wouldn't even acknowledge me waiting to tee off. This isn't the first time this has happened to me at this course. So I was forced to wait behind them until hole 14 where I just decided to skip ahead to hole 16 to get my round over with. Nice course but I wouldn't recommend going here unless you can go way later in the day to try and get 9 holes in before they close because it seems this is a hotspot for slow groups who don't have any courtesy for other golfers and the tee times are scheduled way too close together through their website and in house which apparently all get crammed together. I understand this is a business that needs to make money but it does not make for a good experience.

9/12/24 Course was was in good shape as the greens rolled surprisingly quick. The course secured new carts earlier this summer and they are a welcome addition. The bunkers themselves were well maintained. However, many of them had “sweat” bees in them. If allergic stay far away. Update Played on 3/23/25 Course was in good shape for mid March. Greens had been recently aerated and sanded. A hard rain is needed to soak this in. Fairways have also been aerated and there are a fair amount of small plugs that need dissolved from rain as well. Work was done since last summer to remove bushes and a few trees around the ponds near 9 and 10 fairways opening site lines to the greens more. The one disappointing issue from the course is the amount of trash around the course. None of it is in play, but it definitely is an eye sore and a shame since there had to have been at least 6-7 garbage bins on tee boxes that the bottles, cans and other items could have been put into. It takes away from the look of nature on the course.

Loved the course, but like most places they are only worried about how many people they can get out. No starter, no rangers, people behind you literally standing on your tee box and hitting into you. We ran into a group behind us playing from the ladies/seniors box. We can't hit into the green so they just kept hitting their first while we are waiting to hit our second. Not to mention you would of thought it was their course the way they kept telling us what we should do with our shots. Made it for a very uncomfortable round of Gold
