Many here in the metro have had great concerns regarding Surrey Hills Golf club, but let me tell you, I think that Surrey Hills is on their way back! I booked a tee time online through a third party app. I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived. I have heard terrible things about the decay of the course. Although, there has been talk of late about a revitalization. I had to see it first hand. When I arrived there was no real clear signage so I had to pay very close attention. The club house from the exterior was actually much nicer than I expected. It is a large towering building with great potential. The immediate grounds were nice as well. There were only about four vehicles in the parking lot. The interior looked freshly remodeled but looked as though someone had just moved into an apartment. No decor to speak of. Things are kind of just set against the walls. The dining area looks great, but honestly was vacant of any people and they are having issues with staffing I would guess. Again, I didn't know exactly where to go until I spotted a few Word document print out signs. I found a gentleman and two young ladies in the "pro shop". This is where I experienced the worst element to the entire trip. The gentleman at the front was probably the most unprofessional and inept person I have experienced in thirty years of golf. He did not say a word he didn't even stand up. He sat there and looked at me. If I hadn't said something I would still be there. He essentially asked me what did I want. I explained to him I was checking in. He said "checking if for what"... Needless to say he was not a great ambassador for the course. I spoke to several other employees who were great. The carts were nice and ran well. They are still updating the course so, they didn't have real score cards and printed some kind of temporary card on thin printer paper. There were no signs again, nor did the gentleman at the front explain where the carts were, where the first tee was, nothing. Eventually we figured it out. We purchased a few drinks at the club house. Unfortunately, three of the six were frozen solid and exploded upon opening. Not a huge deal they are still figuring that aspect out. The course was actually quite nice. It is very similar to an old course called Silverhorn. In fact the entire experience reminded me of that wonderful Edmond staple. The layout was fun with an array of varying topography and more challenging holes than I anticipated. There were restrooms along the course which is a great feature. You can tell a lot is being done to improve the course from a maintenance standpoint. The greens at this time were a bit rough but it's a process. Overall, my group and I were incredibly satisfied with our experience. We tried again to spend more money at the turn but it was nearly impossible to get someone to take our money. The guy again at the front would not give off the phone. There was a another group of players who tried to get two employees attention and were unable. They were trying to buy some drinks, they said, "let's just go". Don't make it hard for customers to give you their money... Surrey Hills is exactly the type of golf we enjoy. Fun, casual course with a great layout for a good price. This will be our new go to and as I said if you loved Silverhorn you will love the new Surrey Hills. If not for the poor customer service experience(s) with the one individual and a few customer service flaws this would be an easy five star considering the price to quality ratio. The new manager is committed to improvement it is up to us to give her a chance. ----- I will be playing again soon and will update.

I like the golf course...wide fairways and nicely kept grounds, bathroom along the way, cement cart paths It would be super nice to have a cafe to get a bite to eat, have a beer and relax after a game. A cart girl runs the course offering beer, water, etc. They do have some fast kinds of foods. All and all a nice course 😊

Surrey Hills Golf Course had warning signs from the moment we arrived — and unfortunately, the experience lived down to every one of them. Sometimes a course may not look impressive but surprises you with a great experience. Other times, appearances are exactly what you get. Surrey Hills was the latter. When we pulled in, the property looked half under construction and strangely deserted. There was no staff visible anywhere. Following the restroom signs led downstairs into a dark hallway with almost no lighting, no direction, and a handwritten sign taped to the wall explaining the bathrooms were closed and that porta-potties outside were the alternative. That pretty much set the tone for the day. The pro shop was nearly empty — no merchandise, no atmosphere, just a small bowl of used golf balls sitting on the counter. Despite that, we paid nearly $100 for two people with a cart. We were told they were “running 50 minutes ahead of schedule” and that we could tee off whenever we wanted. That sounded great until we got to the first tee box and sat there for over 20 minutes waiting for the fairway to clear. Pace of play never improved. We ended up quitting after nine holes because it took three hours. My wife and I play golf regularly, and we’re usually not overly critical. We’ve played plenty of average municipal courses and still had a good time. This course, however, genuinely earned the criticism. The first cart they gave us barely moved faster than walking speed. We had to call the pro shop from the first hole to request another one. To his credit, the young employee who swapped it out was polite and professional, but even he admitted they have “a lot of carts doing this right now.” The course conditions were rough. The fairways were thin and patchy, and the greens were among the worst we’ve played on in a long time — bumpy, inconsistent, and poorly maintained. Several areas looked more like stressed-out turf than playable greens. Even the presentation around the course felt neglected. At the first tee, there’s a giant list of rules mounted onto a raw sheet of plywood attached to fence posts. It looks like someone put effort into wood-burning the lettering, but then stopped halfway through the project. Instead of creating charm, it just reinforced the overall feeling that the place lacks professionalism and upkeep. On the far side of the course, there’s a small restroom, with a sign posted that is just indicative of the experience, nothing welcoming, nothing inviting, just complaining and snarky. There was a marshal driving around, but despite that, pace of play never improved. The overall operation felt disorganized from start to finish. The photos really tell the story: * Patchy, struggling greens with inconsistent turf coverage * Worn infrastructure and poorly maintained facilities * Slow, unreliable carts * Empty clubhouse atmosphere * Temporary-looking signage and unfinished presentation throughout the property There’s simply nothing here that justifies the price point. Between the course conditions, terrible pace of play, poor facilities, and worn-out equipment, this was one of the more disappointing golf experiences we’ve had. Save your money and play somewhere else.

If I could give zero stars I would. The course is in horrible shape. The greens have random patches of some grass trying to grow. The rest is dirt that has been painted to look like grass. Instead of remodeling the clubhouse, they should actually try fixing the greens. However this has been an issue for almost decade, but they always have an excuse as to why there are issues with the greens. For 2 of us to play was almost $100. Won’t waste my money here anymore.

I came here for a tournament, the course and the golf carts are all part of and established venue. Surrey hills was nice and accommodating. Everyone in the Pro Shop was helpful!
