It’s a good course for the casual golfer. Like one other reviewer said, it’s not full of hooligans or posh. It’s not a hard course minimal sand and water traps. Most holes are mostly straight and minimal hills. Fairways and greens are maintained pretty decently. My only complaint is every time I come here the course is overly crowded and there is always one group holding up several groups behind them. So much so that I skipped ahead because I was so tired of waiting.

I recently played a 9-hole walking round at Black Brook Golf Course in Mentor, Ohio with two others. While the course itself was in decent shape, the experience was ruined by the staff. They scheduled five-somes and four-somes back-to-back and then rushed us the entire time, claiming “members were complaining” and that we needed to pick up the pace — even though the slow play was clearly caused by how they stacked the tee times. The starter, or the guy working the desk in the pro shop, had a terrible attitude from the start. Instead of creating a welcoming environment, he acted annoyed and unprofessional the whole time. Overall, the customer service was extremely disappointing. The course might be good, but the staff made the round far less enjoyable than it should’ve been. I won’t be returning anytime soon. I would also like to add that the tee boxes are basically mud and that it’s mentor not 7 hills or any of the good golf courses in the Cleveland area lol so relax on attitude next time folks decide to go to your course .

Was some of the worst maintained golf course I've ever played. I have been golfing at this location since I could swing a golf club and am appalled at the lack of effort that is being put into the course. $41 for 18 and a cart, no senior rates on the weekends, and no specials for veterans on memorial day weekend. I will not be returning to this course in the near future until they start realizing that moves like this where they stick it to the buyer will ultimately bring down their business. I say "Good day sir" and good luck with that piece of overgrown land that you call a golf course.

Let me preface this review with the definition of Tee Time. A tee time is the scheduled, reserved time for a golfer or group (foursome) to begin their round at the first hole. My sister and I had a tee time for 3:30. We arrived at the pro shop at 3:27. People were paying in front of us. The two in front of us arrived at the tee box in front of us at 3:30. At 3:37 the fairway and hole one was clear. The duo in front of us sat on the box for 15 minutes after that teaching his buddy the ways of golf. (Teaching doesn’t bother me. But on a course pace in front of a pro shop should’ve been handled.) The guy working the counter said it would be 7 when they close. We teed of at 4. Waited on the box on the group from 3:37 till we could tee off at 4:00. We played 4 holes in about 1 hour 45 mins. We had 2 groups behind us that were also waiting. One group was a group of 3 walking. Ridiculous that this could’ve been handled on the first tee box. After the 4th hole we met the duo in front of us. They were on the box no one on the next hole. When we approached the box they were talking for 3-4 mins we waited. they did not hit a ball. Then drove off to their ball. We waited 15 more minutes for them to hit 6 balls from their 3rd shot 75-80 yards off the green. (270ish on that hole) That is within a distance I did not feel comfortable hitting into them. Some holes we waited 20 mins some holes we waited on the box for 30 mins. We would’ve never made it before close. We turned around on hole 4 drove in returned the cart and left. Black brook will be a last resort golf trip for me.

Gonna be honest with you. I've played here for years, but I won't update this to 5 stars until that guy in the pro shop is shipped off to somewhere else. Most unprofessional, rude guy ever. Makes it not even fun to go play there when you have to start a round pissed off. Almost turned around and asked for my money back and left, but hey...it was nice out.
