I brought my grandson here to the driving range. It was his first introduction to the game. The facility is a bit dated but everything was functional. The grass tee area was a bit tall but still workable and manageable. The also have mat tees. We used those fro driving practice. They have a practice putting green and a green to practice pitching, chipping and bunker shots. I decided to play 9 holes here later that afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the greens, tees, and fairways. The rough is fairly thick. It’s difficult to locate your ball in the rough. The course is very flat. With a few water and sand hazards. Overall a nice choice for a quick 9.

This is not a country club if thats what youre looking for, however the course is well maintained, greens in great shape, fair price and very accommodating staff. Our group has and will continue to play here 3-4 times per season.

This course is representative of its (I assume) owner. I played 9 holes here a few weeks ago, and while it was bad, it wasn’t this bad. That time, I had a pleasant interaction with the yellow-toothed man that I assume owns this landfill. So when a friend came into town from three hours away, I decided to book us a tee time here last Sunday. Now, onto the reason I will never be back. We had a 7:40 AM tee time for a twosome—the earliest available that day. When we arrived, I could tell the owner was already in a bad mood. He told us it was cart path only and apologized for the course conditions, stating verbatim: “The dandelions are bad because of the hot and dry summer we had last season. I know this because I’m a licensed greenskeeper.” (Whatever that means.) At this point, I thought maybe the weeds were just bad in the rough and it wouldn’t be too awful on the fairways. Well, I was wrong. As you can see in the video below, it looked like a cotton field as far as the eye could see. I lost an entire box of balls that day. The owner gave us a generous discount of $5 each—so $85 total for two players to hack through this warzone. But that’s not even the worst part. There was a group of seniors ahead of us on the front 9 that seemed to grow in size every hole. It started as a foursome, and by the 9th hole, I counted seven of them. Still, not a big deal—it was Sunday and I had no other plans than golf. What really got me was at the turn. We pulled up to the clubhouse at 9:38 AM—on time—and the owner was chatting with the group of seniors. He turned to us and said: “Hey guys, these are my members. They’re gonna go ahead and let you play through.” “Awesome,” I thought. I replied, “Thanks—we just need to use the restroom really quick, and we’ll be back out.” We went in, used the restroom, and then walked up to the bar to grab a hot dog and a soda. That’s when the owner approached and said: “I thought you guys were going to the restroom only. What do you want?” I said, “We decided to grab a soda and a snack before heading back out. Is there a problem?” He responded: “Well, you just said you were going to the restroom and didn’t mention anything about a snack. My members are waiting out there—and they’ve had the first tee time every Sunday for the last 10 years.” Let me be clear, sir: You run a crappy public golf course. I just paid $85 to play here, and you’re complaining about pulling two sodas from a fridge and throwing a cold hot dog on a bun? Get a grip. To top it off, we played Hickory Woods the day before—a course located less than a mile from Eagle’s Nest—and it was in perfect shape. I guess your great-value “greenskeeper license” didn’t do you much good. I will never play this course again. And if you’re smart and like to spend your money wisely, I suggest you don’t either.

Mayflies everywhere, cart died on hole 4 and overall terrible course. Fairway and rough are the same, standing water on sides of path. No irrigation. Onsite crew only seem to want leagues or regulars. Got upset at us for not bringing back the cart that died… what should we have done pushed it?

Although the grass isn’t perfect, for a public course it is everything you want. I got the pleasure of speaking to the man working 4 times. Once after my soccer game, once on the phone, once to pay, and once to get concessions. The first meeting was great. He was very polite and helpful. If you are looking for a place where casual meets professional, this is the place. You can dress comfortably, while also playing a nice golf course. The course is great for all skill levels. The tee boxes are spread to the perfect distance for beginner, casual, and competitive golfers. Oh, and don’t worry about pricing. I paid for 18 holes, and the cost was similar to 9 for the average course. Keep in mind I was playing at 1:10 on Saturday. Great course great pricing, how good of a deal can you get? Overall, it was one of the better courses I have played this year, especially for the price. If the guy I met sees this, thank you for your time and effort you put into customer service. Every golf course needs a guy like you.
