First, let me tell you, IGNORE any review that puts this place over 3 stars. They have to be friends of the owners or have the lowest standards ever because when I say it is a goat track, I’m not exaggerating. Legend Lake has gone down hill so bad. It’s about time it closes. Paid $32 to play 18 on October 6, 2025 and only played 9 because of the conditions. First, I will say that the staff is really nice from the check in, to the cart girl to the grounds crew. That was the good. However, the tee boxes are loaded with weeds and bare spots. The fairways are very hard and dead in a lot of areas (see photo). The roughs are weedy and hard to play out of and the greens are patchy, bumpy and diseased. The course could be nice with an aeration of the whole course, cleaning up decorative areas, a good seeding and proper maintenance. The only maintenance done seems to be grass cutting. Even the cart paths are beat to death. There are no ball cleaners anywhere either. It is pretty sad to see what used to be a private club fall into such disrepair. As you go down hole 9, on the left, there is a building attached to the clubhouse with a giant hole in the roof and looks condemned. I think they need to sell this course to new ownership because it’s not getting the care it needs or sell it to developers. Honestly, there are much nice courses around the area. Play here only if you can’t get in somewhere else and it’s under $20. Anymore and it’s robbery.

The new superintendent that started late 2023 has done a great job to get the course playing great. There are a few spots on the greens that need help but most of the course is in great shape. Keep up the good work. The bunkers even look great after the hard rain a few days ago and the 90+ temperatures this week. Was a member here back in the 90s when I was a teen. Took me back to my memories. Used to like the lake hole being hole 6 not 15.

Solid course for the price. The holes are challenging, lined with trees and some water...some decent character. Mostly in good shape...there are some dry spots or patches on fairways, but nothing major. Pro shop staff is friendly and helpful. Will play here again.

Possibly the worst condition I’ve ever seen a course. There’s weeds and grass in the bunkers, Weeds in the middle of the fairway, The greens were in such bad condition that there were anthills surrounding all the cracks and dirt. Hopefully the Metro parks buy this course and make it into something good.

I recently played at Legend Lake and came away pleasantly surprised. This course has a really interesting layout that stands out from many of the more repetitive public courses around Northeast Ohio. It feels secluded and peaceful, with mature trees lining many fairways and enough elevation changes and doglegs to keep things interesting throughout the round. The course definitely makes you think strategically rather than just grip-it-and-rip-it. One of the highlights is the overall design. Several holes are memorable, especially the water features and tighter approach shots that force you to actually manage the course. It has the feel of an older private club layout, which makes sense considering its history. The signature holes around the lake are visually impressive and add a nice challenge without feeling gimmicky. The course was originally designed by Reece Alexander and has a reputation for a strong, classic layout. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and pace of play was reasonable. That makes a huge difference when you’re trying to enjoy a round instead of waiting on every tee box. Condition-wise, Legend Lake seems to be improving. Some areas of the fairways and greens still need attention. That said, there are many signs it’s moving in the right direction. For value, it’s a worthwhile course if you appreciate a fun layout and a less crowded, more relaxed atmosphere. It may not be pristine country-club conditioning every day, but the bones of a very good golf course are definitely there. If you enjoy challenging shot-making, scenic wooded holes, and a course with character, Legend Lake is worth adding to your rotation.
