Description

A Rowan County staple, Rolling Hills is a friendly walk with classic Carolina parkland vibes. It isn't long from the tips, but tree-lined corridors and doglegs keep you shaping shots. Small, bentgrass greens put a premium on distance control and short-game touch. Locals appreciate the straightforward routing that still has bite when the wind kicks up. Great for value golf and working the ball without the stress of forced carries.

I’ve played this course around seven times, giving it chance after chance to improve, but unfortunately, it has only declined. I rarely leave negative reviews, but at this point I feel it’s important to help others avoid wasting their money. The greens are in terrible condition... many are covered in sand, and hole 12 is completely closed, creating major backups as players are forced to replay other holes. The cart paths are also in rough shape, and the pace of play is painfully slow, which makes for a frustrating experience. Maintenance is severely lacking. Tree branches are left scattered near fairways, and there’s even a large stump with debris still lying around. It doesn’t take much effort to remove this, but it clearly hasn’t been a priority. Overall, this is not the course for anyone looking to improve their game. Salisbury has multiple better options nearby, and once Corbin Hills reopens, I will likely never return here. That said, if you’re just looking to casually hang out with friends and don’t care much about score or course conditions, then this place may serve that purpose. But for more serious golfers, it’s simply not worth it.

To start… I am not the type of person to leave reviews, but I feel like I have to share my experience at this “golf course” to keep someone else from going through the same thing and wasting their money. So the reason I ended up at this course in the first place, is because my wife has just recently gotten into the sport and I wanted to take her to a more relaxed course to work on her game with little pressure. About 3 weeks ago I called and booked a “tee time” for a Saturday around 10am. We pulled into the parking lot and immediately saw 6-8 groups loading their bags into carts and the parking lot was packed. (That was my first hint to turn around) After going into the club house and standing behind a line of people (three of which didn’t have tee times) I paid (70 dollars) and went out to get a cart and saw that there was a line of 11 carts and 4 people walking waiting on the first tee box. I realized I had made a huge mistake and turned around to get my money back. When I asked for my money back the guy looked at me like I was crazy and said, “Well it’s like this every weekend all I can do is give you a rain check” so unfortunately I took the rain check and drove 40 minutes home… Well today my wife and I decided to go get this rain check off our mind and luckily we got up early enough to beat the crowd and there was only one group waiting on the tee box when we arrived. Now onto the course… it is fine for beginners but anyone that even wants to write down a score should avoid this place at all costs. Fairways are decent on most holes (5/10). Tee boxes are definitely rough (3/10). And the greens….. they had lost them and had recently “aerated” them with the largest grain sand I’ve ever seen in my life. Might as well have been pea gravel. That along with the aeration holes might as well have been putting in the gravel parking lot. This has to be the cheapest sand they could possibly get their hands on and it quite literally had me picking my ball up on 10/17 holes (hole 12 was closed) although I think about 10 of them should have been closed because they were all the same condition as 12. Anyways… if you are like the group that was in front of us today and have literally never played golf in your life this is perfect place to go smack some balls around with a pin to aim at, but like I said don’t bother keeping score because you may never play golf again. The most frustrating part for me was acting like they had tee times when in reality if you are dumb enough to come and give them 35 dollars (which is ridiculous for the course conditions) they will let you out there at any time of the day as long they have carts available. And hell if there aren’t any carts left you can go walk. I witnessed it. Today makes me appreciate a well taken care of golf course so much and I pray this review helps steer someone away from this disgrace of a course. Rolling Hills will never get another dollar from me. The pictures speak for themselves.

Great starter course, would 100% recommend to new golfers and is a very good price. Picture's posted already are a terrible representation of the course it had a period where they had some weed problems but looks a lot better. Would recommend especially if you just wanna have fun and play some golf.

For the price, it’s not bad, but definitely not good. The course itself is solid, but the greens are in god awful condition, and every time I’ve been here that’s been consistent, but maybe I’m unlucky. The bunkers are also very poorly maintained with patches of grass growing in them. If you’re going with friends/ family to have a fun cheap round of golf, this could be the place for that. But if you want a good golf course, or just want to try and improve your game, just wait for Corbin hills to reopen.
