Description

Family-owned since 1963, Meadowbrook winds through the foothills on the old Deck family farm, with Henson and Davis creeks and ponds influencing shot selection on multiple holes. A significant renovation in 2010 by Rick Robbins improved playability, aesthetics, and relocated the practice range, while preserving the classic, tree-lined feel. The layout stretches to just over 6,700 yards from the back tees and offers four tee boxes to fit a wide range of players. It's a straightforward, honest test - hit fairways, manage the water, and you'll score; get greedy and the creeks will bite. Friendly rates and a casual vibe make it a Western NC staple for regular play and group outings alike.

A bit out of the way but I think it adds to the charm. At first approach it doesn't knock your socks off, the driving range was rough. The club house is a small building, the parking lot is tight. BUT the practice green is in great shape and the staff is the friendliest anywhere near the Greenville/Spartanburg area. The greens all were in great shape albeit a bit slower than expected (today), the fairways were all well manicured, the tee boxes were good and flat for the most part. The rough is definitely thicker than most other courses in the area. The carts are basic but quick. I loved the layout, it was friendly with a few tougher holes. Par 73 makes it interesting as well. Scores out of 10 Club house 7.8 Carts 7.5 Tee boxes 7.7 Fairways 7.8 Greens 8.3 Course Layout 8.1 Pace of play 8.7 Overall: 7.98 / 10

Possibly one of the most peaceful golf courses I have played...This is a great course for great value! I played here this past weekend. The front 9 is a great warm up, a little bit more open, but the back 9 becomes a bit more challenging - got to hit your spots on the back. Definitely worth giving Meadowbrook a try if you're in the area.

UPDATE******* I played the course a few day’s later and it was better. The front 9 was perfect. The course had a lot of people playing but we all played at a perfect pace. The back 9 got Jammed up again but that is to be expected on Sunday. I love the course. Met my Sunday expectations. The course is in pretty good shape. From the tips it is long and the course is challenging. The only reason it gets three stars is because of the extreme slow play. It appears to be Senior members, but they could care less how many people they are holding up. If this were a Sunday, I would completely understand but this is just a normal Thursday 2:30 in the afternoon. They won’t let anybody play through. These are the type of guys who stop everybody of water to fish for balls while people are waiting behind them. I seen another group of guys on an adjacent hole and they was complaining about the same thing in front of them. I will be back because the course is nice but every time I come out here it’s like this.

Alright folks, gather 'round your old man and let pops tell ya 'bout a real gem I unearthed down yonder in Rutherfordton, North Carolina – Meadowbrook Golf Club! This place is the bee's knees, the cat's pajamas, the... well, it's just a darn fine place to swing some sticks! Took the ol' reliable station wagon down there last weekend – had to escape the ever-growing "honey-do" list, know what I mean? wink wink. And let me tell you, Meadowbrook was just what the doctor ordered. Pulled up, smelled that fresh-cut grass – better than potpourri, am I right? The place looked welcoming, not intimidating like some of those hoity-toity clubs where you feel like you need a pressed collar just to get out of the car. Now, the course itself? Just tee-rific! The fairways were greener than my neighbor Bill's face when I finally beat him at horseshoes last summer after weeks of his smack talk. Mostly nice and wide, which is forgiving for a fella like me whose drives sometimes take the scenic route through the tall stuff! Found a few trees, sure – heck, probably gave one or two a nice Titleist-shaped hug – but hey, that builds character! And helps practice the ol' punch-out shot! The greens? Hoo boy, they were slicker than a greased piglet trying to escape the pen at the county fair! Had a few putts just whisper on by the hole like they were telling secrets, but hey, that just means you gotta putt your best foot forward! Groan Get it? Putt? Haha! The layout is fun, not too punishing unless you’re spraying it everywhere like yours truly sometimes does, but enough challenge to make you feel like you earned that frosty post-round beverage. Some nice views of them Carolina foothills too. Almost made me forget I three-putted number 12. Almost. The folks in the clubhouse? Friendly as can be! Made you feel right at home, like they’ve known you for years. Didn't grab a full meal, but the hot dogs turning on that little machine smelled better than Mom's blue-ribbon apple pie baking on a Sunday (don't tell her I said that!). Looked like a classic clubhouse deal, just the ticket after 18 holes. And the price? Great value! Didn't have to dip into the emergency vacation fund, thankfully – the missus checks that balance, you know. If you're looking for a good, honest round of golf without any unnecessary fuss or fancy stuff, head on down to Meadowbrook. It’s a solid course, friendly people, and a great place to whack the dimpled sphere and forget your troubles. Tell 'em Dad sent ya! It's a hole-in-one kind of place! You'll have an un-fore-gettable time! Okay, I'll stop now. Maybe. FORE!

Great course at a good price. Everyone in the pro shop are always friendly and helpful. The greens are some of my favorite I’ve ever played. Putts roll true and are pretty fast. Also greens are usually really receptive. Enjoy playing here.
