This is the worst golf course on planet earth!! Every single hole is covered in mud and the greens look like a bomb went off on them. Sand traps look like a waste land and about 80% of the bunkers are waist high in water and I lost about 3 balls because of that. You couldn’t pay me 1000 dollars to come back here again. To add insult to injury the average player here hasn’t touched a golf club in there life so the pace of play is about 30 minutes a hole. Never again!!

I just played here for the first time today and I really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly, the course was in good shape, and the layout presented some fun challenges (hole 12 is pretty crazy). The pace of play was great but it was also a Tuesday morning. I didn't use the range or the putting green but it's good to know they have them for my next visit (and I'll definitely be back.

I recently had the pleasure of playing at Emerald Lake Golf Club for the OMB Invitational, and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I pulled into the lot until the final handshake on the 18th, the entire day was a masterclass in golf hospitality. Exceptional Staff & Hospitality The team at Emerald Lake truly understands how to host a premier event. The staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive to every detail. Whether it was the seamless check-in process or the friendly service at the LakeView Tavern, they made every player feel like a member for the day. Their energy and organization kept the tournament running smoothly and added a layer of class to the entire invitational. Pristine Course Conditions The course itself was in pure condition. It’s clear that the maintenance crew has been working tirelessly, as the greens were fast, true, and impeccable—living up to their reputation for setting the standard in the Charlotte area. If you are looking for a top-tier golf experience in the Matthews/Stallings area, Emerald Lake Golf Club is hitting on all cylinders right now. A huge thank you to the team for making the OMB Invitational such a memorable event—I can't wait to get back out there!

Always a great/fun course to play! The best part are the people in the pro shop and the bartenders are always fun and smiling!! The greens were a bit tough a few months back but bounced back nicely! I play almost every Sunday here!

I paid $90 to play Emerald Lake and left extremely disappointed. First, the course failed to disclose major setup changes before taking payment. Nothing online or in the pro shop mentioned that every par 3 was being played off mats from roughly 150 yards, and even the signature par 5 over water was moved up short of the water, turning it into an unremarkable ~400-yard hole. Those are material changes to the experience and should be clearly communicated before customers check in. Not disclosing that feels misleading. Second, pace of play was unacceptable. The round took over five hours. During that time, the marshal was repeatedly seen sitting in the shade on his phone rather than actively managing the course. If pace is that slow, course staff should be addressing it. Third, the handling of a player dispute was poor. Two players in our group left after hole 14. The group behind us incorrectly assumed we had cut in front of them and hit balls into us. After they complained, the marshal approached us on hole 18 and tried to remove us before even understanding the situation. Once we explained what happened, there was still no apology for the false accusation or for the dangerous behavior of the group hitting into us. Finally, the course conditions were average at best—around a 6.5/10—and nowhere near worth a $90 greens fee. Overall, this was an overpriced and poorly managed experience. Transparency, pace-of-play management, and basic customer service all need serious improvement.
