Description

Set on Lake Wakena just outside Goldsboro, Walnut Creek is a classic Ellis Maples design with generous corridors and subtly contoured greens. The course opened in the late 1960s and later rebuilt greens and surrounds after Hurricane Floyd, switching to L-93/Crenshaw bentgrass for year-round consistency. From the back tees it pushes to ~7,000 yards, but the challenge lies more in angles, elevation shifts, and wind off the lake. Water hazards appear sparingly yet decisively, notably around the picturesque ninth. The private club atmosphere is low-key, with strong member games and a reputation for tidy conditioning.

Attended Safety award luncheon. Food was good and service was top tier! The landscape golf course was beautiful!

You need to play this course,now. It's in great shape. The greens are fast and smooth. The fairways are green nicely manicured. The staff is really friendly & helpful. The other members are very friendly too. Great experience.
