Description

A mountain-valley 9-holer with vintage charm and an easygoing vibe. Tree-lined fairways frame straightforward tee shots before asking for touch into compact greens. Locals love the value and pace, and visitors appreciate the Blue Ridge views. Loop it twice for a budget-friendly 18 that still tests your short game. There's a range on site plus a snack bar and seasonal pool.

Nothing fancy but good value for the money. It is a tight course with small greens. You’ll hear traffic noise for sure. We didn’t need a tee time, and got through 9 holes fairly quickly. Nice little spot.

So, I have to be honest here. Brunette behind the counter yesterday has a MAJOR attitude. I made a suggestion about fans on the practice range and got even more attitude (basically calling me an idiot for being there hottest part of the day). Course manager seems really cool. Looks like a decent track for a 9 hole. Putting green has weed clusters all over so you can't even practice a 10 foot putt. I'd lay some artificial turf on that until time to start over. Great experience except rude rude rude lady working the counter and no puttable practice surface.

I grew up around this course and played for the high school and middle school golf team in Franklin. If you are an avid golfer DO NOT go to this course expecting anything that resembles a golf course - over the years I have got to the point where even if my friends or family try paying for me to go I will not go - tee boxes are hard as a rock with hardly any grass and not level, the “fairways” are just a mowed cow pasture and there is no GOOD spot to land the ball, bunkers are always filled with water or unraked, and if by the grace of god you hit the green chances are you have a HUGE bald spot somewhere in your line. Not to mention the driving range is inaccurate yardage and only the option to hit off mats. If your not really a golfer and just go out to drink beer and hang out with the boys this is your course, but anyone looking to improve your game this is not it - you will damage your clubs more than anything.

I play there today to get some rust off my game it cost a little more to play 9 with cart, but its worth it. The greens are looking better, and I see were the money is being used and this is why its getting 4 stars, they are rebuilding everything new tee boxes replacing some grass , and the fairways are starting to look less weedy. All on all it worth putting up with the temporary tee areas. Its starting to look like a golf course, a good place to have fun.

I really enjoyed my last couple of trips to Franklin Golf Course. Current management has done a remarkable job of improving the course over the last couple of years. The greens are in the best shape I've seen in a long time and general maintenance of the course has vastly improved. A good value for your money.
