I can’t imagine winter without our precious Byrncliff to xc ski as often as possible (and then partake in some reconstituting food & libation perhaps), along with naturally becoming part of its winter community (family, really) cultivated by the super-sweet Meidenbauer/Eddy owners and the whole staff. If you think winter is hard and long, look no further than taking a quick trip out to Byrncliff for a fun day or two (or an evening with its lit trails!) embracing our Buffalo winters. With a quick 10-minute ride from East Aurora, you’ll find yourself smack-dabbed right into their golf-course-turned-winter-wonderland without breaking the bank (even the season’s pass is truly super fairly priced and reasonable). Byrncliff is such a fabulous winter playground. You can xc ski (either classic in the set tracks or skate on the groomed corduroy), snowshoe, sled, or just hang out at the fire pit. Your choice. Rentals are available for most activities or bring your own. Gosh, you can even make a little vacation out of it with staying at one of their rental places. All of my and my family’s xc skate skiing skills were born and bred at Byrncliff many years ago, including learning to race, even, of which we are all ever so grateful for having this venue to continually hone said skills. In doing so, Byrncliff has become a way of winter life for us over the years. We have fond memories of weekend “picnic” skiing when the kids were little: hanging out in the ski lodge with huge amounts of packed snacks and games while our gloves dried out by the fire after skiing. It was such a wholesome way of life experience for our family. And now, with our kids grown and gone (but who still try to get in a ski day when home for the holidays) we often follow up a ski by indulgently heading upstairs to the restaurant/bar to sit among the assembled group of winter-fresh, rosy-cheeked outdoor enthusiasts. Going to Byrncliff offers a way to feel wonderfully alive in the winter, making you literally look forward to winter. Each year, I marvel at the beautifully groomed trails on the wooded hillsides abutting of the lodge in the gorgeous setting that we affectionately call “Little Byrncliff Valley,” the welcoming family owners and staff who sweetly remember you, and the fun and yummy après-ski offerings. Always, always, always being grateful for its existence, we feel lucky to have such a place in our area. It’s simply the best, gosh-darned spot to embrace Buffalo’s winter each year. Thank you Byrncliff! Thank you for continuing your decades’ old tradition to provide a wonderful winter wonderland/way of life for the region. We never go out because we are always disappointed. Byrncliff changed that! Everything was perfect. The food, waiter, drink prices. It feels like a home cooked meal without the work. We will definitely be back.

I recently brought a group of 100 college students to Bryncliff for a cross‑country skiing outing, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The team at Bryncliff was incredibly organized, flexible, and easy to work with. Despite unexpected travel delays on our end, they were extremely accommodating—adjusting our reservation time and even staying open past closing to ensure our students had the full experience. When we arrived, every student's skis were already prepared and laid out in alphabetical order, making the check‑in process smooth. They also upgraded our group to a large room where hot chocolate and delicious soup were waiting for us, which our students absolutely loved. Overall, I highly recommend Bryncliff for group outings, cross‑country skiing trips, or any event. Their hospitality, organization, and customer service are truly exceptional.

Offers fantastic cross country skiing and snowshoeing open to the public. They rent skis and snowshoes if you don't have your own. Trails are groomed and lighted at night! The night skiing opportunity is particularly unique. I don't know of anywhere else that offers night xc-skiing on groomed and lighted trails, which is a particularly beautiful way to see the wood/trails. They also have a couple of lean-to shelters with fire pits. On certain days (weekends? Not sure if there is a particular schedule) they light bonfires for skiers enjoyment at the shelters. I lead a high school outdoors club and we have been coming here annually for probably close to 30 years (I've been involved for 21). It's always a great experience for beginners and experienced skiers alike. I highly recommend!

Not big on reviews, but in a world where you seem to only hear about negative experiences, I wanted to share a very pleasant one from the staff at Byrncliff. On a recent trip my wife and I found ourselves stuck in the craziest snow / wind storm I have every experienced. We got to a point where we did not feel safe on the road any longer, and were very close to Byrncliff. We called the office and they got us set up with a room right away. Given there was a massive snow storm underway, we didn't have high expectations for service, and really just needed a place to crash for a couple of hours. When we arrived, Tom was waiting on a few other groups that were in a similar spot (one group waiting on a tow for their car that was damaged in an accident, and other waiting on new rental car to take their child to receive Leukemia treatment at a nearby hospital. It really felt like a Hallmark movie. Tom re-opened the kitchen to make food, had coffee ready to go, and stuck around to make sure everyone was comfortable, fed, and had everything they needed for the night. It may have seemed like a small thing for him, but after the day we had it meant everything. What an awesome service experience, and a great facility. As a golfer, I will definitely be back when the snow clears, and wanted to show some appreciation in the meantime. Cheers to you all and thank you again!
