*2024 update- Saxon Woods is in great shape and wonderful to play. Get out there while it still sunny. Saxon Woods is a beautiful Westchester Public golf course and restaurant. The fairways and greens are in great shape. The course is difficult enough for very good players but also lenient for newer players. A fun and scenic course, with great prices on discounted websites like GolfNow and TeeOff. The restaurant offers typical pub dining in a nice outside environment. Played my first round here this year (4/2023). The course is in great shape and wonderful to play.

This place refuses to serve me a beer and I’m pushing 30 years old. America is the only country on this planet where you can’t get a beer meanwhile America brags about freedom. They even have a sign that says you need to be 100 years old or they will request identification, which is ridiculous. The woman went on and then violate me to my brother behind my back because I didn’t have my identification on me. She should be fired and the policy should be changed. The golf course is great, but the bar not so much and the food is not very good either.

Saxon Woods is one of the most popular public courses in the Westchester County Parks system. Designed by Tom Winton and opened in 1931, it offers a classic parkland layout with rolling terrain, tree-lined fairways, and elevated greens. Recent renovations to tees and greens have kept the course in strong shape despite heavy play. Practice facilities include a driving range, chipping areas, and a putting green, along with a pro shop and on-site restaurant. The course is walkable but demanding, particularly off the tee, where accuracy is key.

Course was nice. Good layout. Plastic balls at the range though? Really? Tried to then practice bunker shots in the practice facility and was told I couldn’t. Won’t be back.

Absolutely terrible experience at Saxon Woods Golf Course. The starter was unbelievably rude, had zero people skills, and based on other reviews it seems this has been an ongoing issue for years with no improvement. The pace of play was beyond unacceptable — over 6 hours for a round with backed up holes everywhere and no golf ranger managing the course at all. Completely disorganized and unprofessional from start to finish. Golf is supposed to be enjoyable and relaxing, but this place was the exact opposite. If you want to take a tour of hell, come here.
