One of the best public golf courses that I have played in central New Jersey. Located right in the heart of campus, the course layout is extremely fun and the cost of a round won't break the bank. There are a couple of holes that are truly challenging. Can't wait to play it again with some course knowledge!

Drove an hour to check this course out. It's situated in a picturesque landscape in Piscataway. Driving range was okay, but putting and chipping practice greens are nice. The Clubhouse and staff were nice and extremely professional. The cafe is open for both coffee and alcoholic beverages and is conveniently located close to 1st, 9th and 18th hole. Overall thoroughly impressed by Rutgers University golf course.

I finally got to play this public gem of a course. My round had the usual high and lows of a shaky 15 handicap golfer but I was really surprised at the unique design of this course. A nice mix of short Par 4’s and gettable Par 5’s. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were in great condition. Some of the greens are small and diabolical with extreme slope and crazy contours. The green on 10 will humble anyone if your approach is on the back of the green like mine was. The green on 12, a tough Par 5, is also very difficult. They take pace of play seriously so be ready to play extreme ready golf. Also, there’s OB on several holes that you wouldn’t think would be there. Lastly, the entire staff is so friendly and professional even after I finished playing. Can’t wait to play here again.

Another course that I played for the first time this year during my quest for 30 new courses in 2025. This was 29 and if I had tried it earlier (played November 1st) I would have played here several times. Course was challenging but not extremely difficult. Average NJ Pricing (75 with a cart and range balls) Will definitely be in my 2026 rotation

Rutgers Golf Course is a solid public option in central New Jersey that rewards smart, disciplined golf. The layout isn’t long by modern standards, but accuracy matters. Fairways can feel tight in spots, and approaches need to be well thought out to hold the greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes, usually as a strategic factor rather than a forced carry, which keeps the course challenging without being overly punitive. Conditioning is generally reliable, especially the greens, which often play fast and true. The routing flows well and is easy to walk, giving the course a traditional, no‑frills golf experience. Lower handicap golfers will appreciate the emphasis on positioning and green complexes, while mid handicappers will find plenty of holes that reward good course management. Higher handicap players can still enjoy the course by choosing the right tees, though keeping the ball in play is important. Overall, Rutgers Golf Course offers a straightforward, well‑maintained round that favors strategy over power and fits well into a regular local rotation.
