This was such a well staffed place. ELLIS WAS THE VERY DEFINITION OF GREAT SERVICE. The facility was beautiful, and the greens were so well kept that it looked like a surgeon cut the grass with a scalpel. The views were great, and the bathrooms spotless .

This is a fantastic course that definitely keeps you on your toes! The layout is both fun and challenging, with several memorable holes featuring elevated greens, tricky sidehill and uphill lies, and rolling fairways that make you think through every shot. The course is well maintained, and each hole offers something a little different, making for an enjoyable round from start to finish. If you’re looking for a public course that rewards good course management while still being enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels, Galloping Hill is well worth the visit. We had a great time and are already looking forward to coming back! I know tee times are hard as hell to get sadly 😞

I played Galloping Hill Golf Course recently and overall it held up pretty well, but it definitely had its ups and downs. The first thing that stands out is the elevation. You’re constantly hitting uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies, so it never feels flat or repetitive. It makes the course more interesting, but it also punishes any sloppy contact. If your game is off even a little, it shows quickly. Condition-wise, it was in pretty solid shape. Fairways were good and mostly consistent, and the greens rolled decently. Not perfect, a bit of variation in speed depending on the hole, but nothing that really hurt the round. For a busy public course, it felt well maintained overall. Pace of play was the main frustration. The front nine moved okay, but once we turned it got noticeably slower. We were waiting on a few tee boxes and it broke up the rhythm a bit. Not unbearable, just enough to notice. The facilities and setup feel more modern and “big operation” compared to most muni courses in the area. Everything is organized, but it still gets crowded and you feel that volume when you’re out there. I walked off thinking it’s a really solid public course and probably one of the better options around, but it does come with the usual tradeoffs of popularity. I’d play it again, just maybe try for an earlier tee time next time.

Love this course! Excellent value for the price! Only complaint is the tee time availability for the 18……something seems fishy. Was able to secure a 14 day card last year but even if I attempted to secure a time for a Saturday time at exactly noon 2 Fridays before (when they supposedly open up) was never able to get anything earlier than 3pm. Just happened again! Either times are being automatically reserved or someone is gaming the system. I’m in IT and with all the AI tools available, smells like someone created a BOT/agent to book times. This would easily be solved by adding a captcha check before booking. Someone should look into this.
