One of the better courses in Mercer County and great for the amateur golfer such as myself. It's extremely forgiving with minimal trees but is still challenging. I also love that they have more par fives than most. The only reason I did not give them a five-star is the bar/restaurant could use some updating. The staff is very friendly and I would highly recommend it.

I actually wanted to give this two stars but course layout and greens were really good. Staff were also very good. Pro shop guy made us coffee, no problem, he recommended we get out early to beat an outing. The fairways and tee boxes were in bad shape. There were other signs of disrepair like a bridge being out for probably a couple of years as they had several signs custom made for the detours. I'm afraid this course might be houses in a few years.

The course is well maintained. The starter and ranger were both polite; they did a great job of keeping everyone moving to keep to the schedule. Grounds are beautifully kept and the flowers are a nice touch. The restaurant was clean. Go see Hanna (who was lovely) or any of the bartenders for a bucket o’ balls and a cold drink. Their version of tater tots, not only a great laugh but delicious.

Course is nothing special, average all around. The staff though is a bit bizarre. Cart girl passed us about 10 times before stopping. When we asked the starter (at the turn) if she actually was the cart girl (we started to think she was just a maintenance person driving in circles), he told us it was our responsibility to wave her down. She literally drove right past us 10 times without a wave or a smile. Halfway house closed at 1pm too.

A round at Hopewell Valley Golf Course ends up being a pretty average experience overall. The layout itself is enjoyable and there are a few solid holes that make good use of the property, but the conditions were only decent, with some rough spots around the fairways and tee boxes. The biggest issue was the pace of play, which dragged for most of the round and made it tough to get into any rhythm. On top of that, the starter came across as unusually aggressive and seemed more focused on policing groups than keeping things moving smoothly. There’s enough here to make it worth playing once in a while, but the overall experience leaves a lot of room for improvement.
