Description

Centerton is a South Jersey public course that feels like a true “in the woods” championship round—lots of tree-lined framing, a quiet setting, and a routing that rewards patience. It’s the kind of course where you can’t fake it off the tee: keeping the ball in play and choosing the right side of the fairway makes your approach game dramatically easier. The layout offers a steady mix of holes where you can attack and holes where par is a very good score, which keeps the round interesting for better players. For mid- and higher-handicaps, the key is resisting the temptation to force distance and instead playing to comfortable numbers. Because the greens reward good distance control, it’s a course where a strong wedge game can “save” you even if you’re not driving it perfectly. If you want a serious public test that still feels fair, Centerton is a great target.

Overall giving 3 out of 5....played on Labor Day afternoon. Course was backed up...tee time starts were every 8 mins which had every group on top of each other, so just had to be patient. Greens were in good shape, especially since early Sept. Fairways were dry, so got plenty of roll if you hit 'em straight :) Some of the rough was very long in some spot, which was on the other end of the spectrum vs the dry areas if you did not stay on the fairways. Price was right since played in the afternoon , so no real complaints. Will try to get back before winter hits.

We had a sunrise tee time, my brother and I. As soon as the shop opened at 6:30am, they politely took us- got us set up and ready to go. Fast start. Not rushed though. Big difference. My brother and I played 18 in a little under 3 hours. The course was in good shape except I believe it was the second hole- the green actually had dimples of grass throughout the entire green. My guess is it was in the middle of a treatment or they are in the middle of some renovations. There was another hole coming in, I believe 16-17 the Tee boxes were moved up roughly 100 yards because it seemed they were also making a change for the better. Regardless- we had an amazing time and will definitely be back. When we pulled up after 18- the gentleman cleaned our clubs for us- very nice!

Been about 8-9 years since I last played Centerton. It was always on our list of courses to play, generally due to the modest cost to play there. My son, grandson and I played Centerton last Sat and my experience was mixed. First the good. The greens were actually not bad for Aug., although getting to them could be a challenge depending on which fairway you were on. Both the cart girl and the young lady in the snack shop at the turn were very pleasant. Lastly the tract offers a good mix of challenge with water coming into play on several holes. Now the not so good. The staff in the pro shop acted like he was doing us a favor to even acknowledge us. Indifferent to bored is the best I can describe him. He charged us for 4 golfers even though we were only 3 and we made the tee time for a 3some. When my son went back in to point out the error the young man instead wanted to have a debate over how many were in our party before finally refunding the cost of a 4th. Which BTW was $65 on line ( web site wouldn't let us complete the transaction) but we were charged $70 per in the shop. Leaving the pro shop I noticed a cart parked at the curb as a young guy drove another up next to it. When I asked if the cart was ready to be used he kind of tossed a "yea" over his shoulder as he jogged away. The fairways are really rough. Looks like they've just about lost one and others are well mixed with crabgrass. I usually had to move my ball around to find any grass to hit off of. Overall I can't say its worth the cost for the experience.

Ugh this course got me... I like the layout but seriously the price to to high anymore definitely not worth $70+...no more then a $50 course Great layout Tee box ok Fair way fine could be better Rough good cut hight and good overall but can be lacking grass in spots. Greens slow to middle speed but ok Otherwise I give it a 6/10 But at the price its 5/10 not worth the price tag to play

I loved this place we enjoyed 05/27/2023. Good club service, nice tervern and beer. Feels like, country side golf. Only, comment is they should sum 4 not 2. We are the one play only 4 sum, needs traffic control especially on weekends. Over all, it was great.
