Rockaway River is a well-known North Jersey private club with a strong competitive reputation and a course that rewards precision and patience. The layout typically asks for controlled tee shots, because the best scoring positions often come from specific sides of fairways. Approach play is a major separator—greens and surrounds reward the correct trajectory and distance control, and misses in the wrong spots can leave demanding recoveries. The course has a classic, established feel that plays well for member games and higher-level events. It’s not a course that hands out birdies; you earn them with position and execution. If you want a traditional private-club test that feels serious but fair, Rockaway River is a standout.

Upgraded everything. New pool bar, course has better tees and bunkers! Exclusive dining, beautiful decor. Favorite is eating on back porch on summer evenings with views of golf course. New back bar is the place to be early evenings, great drinks!

Absolutely fantastic staff! Very lovely people all around. Beautiful grounds. Everything is immaculate & stunning. Just don't go around wearing denim 😉 to be honest I was wrong about this place. Great vibe. I definitely recommend this place for a wedding or to play a round of golf.

The staff at Rockaway River Country Club is the best! My Mom held my bridal shower there and it was the most beautiful day. The service was excellent, the food was great, the staff was so accommodating, the newly renovated building was so beautiful, as were the grounds. Megan was so helpful along the way, and was very flexible when it came to COVID rescheduling, which thankfully we didn't have to do. Highly recommend having an event here, you won't be disappointed!
