Description
Hominy Hill is widely regarded as one of New Jersey’s best public courses, offering a big, open, links-influenced feel on a sprawling Monmouth County property. The course is known for its scale—wide fairways, large greens, and a routing that makes wind and angles part of the strategy. That openness can look forgiving, but it’s deceptive: miss to the wrong side and your next shot can become very uncomfortable, especially into firm, contoured greens. The best way to score is positioning—choosing lines that set up the right angle and leaving yourself the correct distance. It’s a favorite for strong players because it feels like a true championship muni, but it remains playable for mid-handicappers who stay patient. If you want a public round that feels “major” without private-club barriers, Hominy Hill is a must-play.
