Bayonne is one of the most unique golf experiences in the Northeast: a private, links-styled course built on reclaimed land along the Hudson River with skyline views that feel almost surreal. Developed and designed by Eric Bergstol, it’s intentionally bold—massive fescue mounding, dramatic shaping, and visual corridors that create separation on a tight footprint. The style is the opposite of minimalist: it’s theatrical, but still plays as real golf because the wind and angles dictate shot-making. You’ll often feel like you’re playing “by the sea” even though you’re minutes from Manhattan, especially when the breeze is ripping off the water. Shot selection matters constantly—club choice, trajectory, and smart targets are essential because misses can tumble into awkward lies and difficult recoveries. If you want a one-of-one round in New Jersey, Bayonne is in that conversation.
