Description

Located on a former military base, Pease offers 27 holes that combine links-style holes with tree-lined classics. It's flat and walkable with generous fairways, making it friendly for most players. But don't be fooled it can get windy, and the greens are no joke. Great value, great variety, and a solid practice facility too.

Having been stationed at Pease Air Force Base from 1983-1985, and having played the course several times, I was excited to return. I have to say that I did not remember or recognize much of the course. They have removed a lot of trees and dried up the swampy area, by the looks. The course was in excellent shape and forgiving. It felt like it played short from the white tees. I say this because my drives were not always good but I was almost always able to hit my approach shots on or near the green... in a good solid rain. The staff was friendly and I found the price reasonable. I will definitely be back when the sun is out!

Nice course. Really good shape. Easily walkable. Only complaint would be the layout isn’t that interesting. A lot of the holes feel the same. Food at the restaurant afterwards was really good.

Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH is a wonderful public golf facility that offers an enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. I recently played the 27-hole course and was impressed by the well-maintained fairways and greens, which provided a great mix of challenge and playability. The course layout is nicely varied with a range of holes set amidst beautiful wooded areas and streams, making it a peaceful yet engaging experience. The staff, especially in the pro shop, was friendly and helpful, offering useful tips that enhanced my game. I appreciated the reasonable pricing — playing nine holes with a cart is a great value, and the pace of play was generally well-managed. The clubhouse and nearby restaurant provide a comfortable place to relax after the round. While some experienced golfers may find the back tees more challenging, the course overall strikes a good balance, making it accessible and fun. The scenic setting combined with the course’s amenities makes Pease a top choice for locals and visitors alike. I highly recommend Pease Golf Course for anyone in the Seacoast region looking for a well-kept, welcoming place to play golf without the crowds of private clubs. I’ll definitely be returning soon to enjoy another round at this gem of a public course.

My wife and I just finished a 4-week series of group golf lessons for beginners. This was a mixed men's and women's class. It was an outstanding experience, start to finish. I had never swung a golf club before (if you don't count mini golf), so I had a lot to learn. Tim and Michael are experienced teachers and coaches. They do a terrific job of keeping things simple, fluid, and, most of all, fun! Everyone gets a little individualized attention. You walk away feeling like you've got the basics. I can't imagine a better introduction to the sport. If you've ever wondered whether golf is something you'd enjoy, take a lesson from Tim and/or Michael at Pease. They'll meet you where you are and make you feel welcome. (And they've got clubs you can borrow, no additional charge, if you don't have your own.)
