I came up to New Hampshire for the week and was looking forward to a round at one of the courses up here with views of the beautiful mountains. Doing my research this course had some great reviews so I decided to give it a shot, but unfortunately the views of the mountains were the only positive. The greens were absolutely horrible. Started on the back 9 and hole ten was like putting on shag carpet, two holes later, it was like putting on pavement. Super rough, super patchy, horribly maintained. It was like playing at your local muni course but for public/private country club rates. Look at these pictures!! 90 bucks for greens that look like this?? If they charged 45, I would have no complaints, I'm expecting the greens to be bouncy and inconsistent. But charging 90 bucks for greens that look like this should be illegal.

Played Birch Hill yesterday. It was in great shape. The greens were difficult but in perfect condition. I really loved the course. The staff was welcoming and super friendly. I am looking forward to playing there again.

We have been to Birch Hill via snowmobile for lunch and couldn’t wait to get back. Today we played 18 and I was amazed at the course overall . Was so much fun. It’s laid out very well and in great overall shape . Few Tee boxes need work and I know they know that but other than that the course is unreal . After golf was lunch time in the tavern and man that was as good as golf maybe better??? Drinks on point … chicken nuggets homemade are very good … fried pickles great… but the star of the show .. the North shore beef 3-way… they are nailing this thing … amazing ! Thanks to the crew who took care of us for drinks in the am before the bar even opened… the cart girl for being extremely attentive .. the grounds crew for a great job on the course… the tavern workers for the job they are doing .. and the owner of the course for doing what he does ! Pretty sure ill Be back

I was initially skeptical due to a few negative reviews, but after playing here on a Sunday morning, it’s clear those complaints come from people with unrealistic expectations for public golf who just like to complain. Birch Hill is doing a fantastic job, and new ownership has elevated this course significantly since its days as Ridgewood. Conditions from tee to green were excellent. It’s a fun, challenging track that requires you to shape a few shots. If you truly appreciate a well maintained course, this is the spot. Anyone complaining about pricing is simply out of touch with today’s golf market and thinks its still 2019 where the demand for golf was a fraction of what it is today. We paid $99 with a cart for an early Sunday round, and even the primetime $118 rate is entirely reasonable for the market and quality. If you want to save $20-$30 go over to Waukewan in Center Harbor where you'll lose your shoe in half the fairways. The course controls what it can, and they do it very well: Pace of Play: Properly spaced tee times kept our Sunday morning round moving at an excellent pace. Thoughtful Touches: Free bottled water in coolers across the course is a class act you rarely see at public facilities. Seamless Service: Staged, clean carts parked conveniently by the lot, paired with a genuinely warm and welcoming staff, a detail so many courses miss. Beer Pricing: Domestic beers like Coors Light for $4.50 is hands-down the best price I've seen at a course. They could easily charge $7+ like everyone else, but choose to keep it low. Don’t put stock into the bad reviews. Birch Hill delivers a top tier public golf experience, and I will absolutely be back!

Birch Hill Country Club formerly Ridgewood CC greens fees have increased almost 20% from a year ago. That’s almost 5 times the current rate of inflation. You will not find the rates published on their website. Friday and weekend golf is $118, weekday $89. This is bizarre. We have played there for many many years but will no longer play at these prices. What’s even more bizarre is Eddy explains the need to aerate and sand the greens. Any golfer knows the necessity and importance of doing this. It was just completed; however, why are you still charging your guest $89? You can’t properly putt and truly enjoy a round of golf for the next several days after this task is completed. The course is not as pristine and beautifully conditioned as one would expect at these prices. The only way green fees will come down is for golfers to not play there. Truly I tell you it is a shame.
