It feels like a great course that’s been completely neglected. The range had pigeon crap all over it, our basket on the cart had an ice chest in it so we didn’t have any place to put our regular shoes, like most people we were coming from vacation so we didn’t have any place to store them. Course was covered in weeds, even the signature holes didn’t seem to have any kind of manicuring done, tee boxes are significantly sloped left and right, cart wasn’t ready until about 2 minutes before our tee time, and there was no place to put our bags while we waited, course service was ok, bar service: the girl was sweet but our food took about 45 minutes. The breakfast bartender was rude and clearly didn’t want to be there. For 175$ I expect a heck of a lot more. Course layout was cool, that’s why it get one star. I would avoid this course at all costs until they improve things.

I see alot of bad reviews here lately and I'd just like to say I was very impressed with the staff at the entire facility. The course layout is a bit challenging for newer golfers like my wife and myself but it was still a great experience. Yes there are areas that could use some attention on the greens and fareways but overall it's still a nice facility. I guess if you want a 5 star facility then this would not meet your expectations.

I finished a round in well under 3 hours which was great. Tight fairways, lots of water, and small undulating greens. This was a challenging course. Staff was good, but local players didn’t seem to care for the course very much judging by unfilled divots filled the fairway and greens. This is on par with Durango hills for me.

Played on April 24th My group had a mixed experience at Desert Pines. Booking a tee time was tougher than expected — I called four or five times with no answer and eventually had to leave a message. A couple of hours later I did get a call back, and the staff member who returned my call was excellent: friendly, helpful, and professional. She also checked us in when we arrived and was just as pleasant in person. Unfortunately, the course conditions were disappointing. Most tee boxes were uneven, making it hard to find a level stance. The bunkers were essentially unplayable, with very little sand and a concrete‑like feel. Fairways were decent overall, though we did run into patches of weeds or crabgrass. Greens rolled well but were a bit beat up with repaired divots. Service on the course was also lacking. We waited all morning for the cart attendant and never saw her until the 8th hole, where she was sitting in the shade across the pond. Even after getting her attention, she didn’t come over. We finally ordered drinks on the 10th hole, but that was the last time we saw her until the round was over, when she was parked near the clubhouse. On a positive note, the bartender in the clubhouse after our round was very friendly and took great care of us. Overall, considering the course conditions and the inconsistent service, we didn’t feel the experience matched the price.

We liked this course a lot. It offered a fun but challenging round. This course is a short course, did not take driver off the tee on any hole, but the fairways are narrow with bunkers and undulation. Are round was during winter, so a lot of the grass was dormant. Tee boxes: We found the tee boxes to be pretty nice. Not full of divots with sand. Most of the are level, but the ones that are not did not affect our game. Fairways: The fairways are narrow and the holes are a lot shorter than we are used to. There are a good number of fairway bunkers, probably to make up for the shorter distances. You may want to look ahead to avoid the bunkers and the fairways do get tighter the closer you get to the greens. Also some of the fairways are split, which may force some to layup off the tee. I did not need driver off the tee the whole round. There is also a good amount of undulation, so there may be some weird bounces in the fairway. Rough: Most of the grass was dormant, so not much to write about. Greens: The greens were in good condition, the grass was not dormant or dried out. We were able to get a good amount of spin on our approaches and chips. Putts rolled nice and smooth. There is some undulation, but not an insane amount. If you can read greens you should be fine, unfortunately I can't. There are a lot of greenside bunkers, and added defense for this shorter course. Most of them have sand, and few were a little dried out and hard. Amenities: -Driving range: there is a driving range on property that you can use to warm up. Purchase balls from the Pro Shop. -Chipping green: they have a small Chipping area right outside the Pro Shop. -Putting green: there is a nice putting green to practice on, which felt like similar speeds to the course. -Restaurant: this course also has a restaurant and cart girl to purchase food and drink. -Golf carts: the golf carts were nice and comfortable. No GPS on them, but it is a short course and a Garmin or range finder should be good. We had a good time during our round. The staff were friendly and answered questions we had since we have not played here. We would love to come back on our next trip.
