Description

Wild Horse is a minimalist masterpiece carved through Gothenburg's prairie, where wind, width, and angles drive the strategy. Firm, fast turf lets you use contours and ground features to feed shots into position. Diagonal hazards and blowouts tease you into biting off bold lines; miss in the wrong spot and par evaporates. The practice facility is robust, and a relaxed clubhouse keeps the vibe welcoming. It's a top-ranked public course for good reason: shot-making is king, and creativity is rewarded on every hole.

I will have to say this is one of the very best golf experience I’ve ever had. A group of us rode over from Denver to play golf here for the weekend. First- the course is pure. Absolutely wonderful conditions and a really fun lay out. After you play it, you just want to play it again. Second- the place is an absolute vibe. Everyone we talked to at the course was very happy to have us there and were very interested in hearing why we were there. As we were in the car headed back to Denver we all started talking about our next trip next year and how many times we want to play the course. Lastly- It costs $80. We came up with a list of comparable courses that we’ve played and we came up with WeKoPa, Sand Valley, Gamble Sands, Quintero, & Stream Song courses and they’re all over $200. Other courses at similar price point- CommonGround, Rustic Canyon, & Jeffersonville are great, but Wild Horse blows them out of the water,

This is such an unique golf course. Natural feel with lots of wild flowers and nature sounds. I was impressed that the women’s bathrooms were very equipped and clean. The food was great. The staff was super friendly. A small town feel. The greens were fast like hard floors. The course was in excellent shape.

This is one of five very special golf clubs in the Cornhusker State that goes from I-80 to the South Dakota border through the Sandhills. As a Nebraska native, it's often that the real golf lovers of this country will speak about Wild Horse in the same sentence as other treasured "bucket list" courses like Bandon Dunes and Pinehurst.

This course should be the definition of hidden gem. It is one of the best golf courses I've ever played. I played the stadium course at TPC Sawgrass a couple of weeks ago, and if I were asked to choose which I would rather play between Sawgrass and Wild Horse, I'm not entirely sure which I would pick. This is undoubtedly the best value round of golf I've ever played in my life. The greens were fast and immaculate. The fairways were cut tight and evenly and looked gorgeous. The layout is fun, the bunkers are great, and the staff was easy to work with and friendly. It is absolutely worth to drive out from wherever you might be to try this place out. Kudos to management, staff, and anyone else involved in keeping this place the heavenly golf experience it is.

Okay, this will be a little of everything. First, the course itself is incredible, absolutely stunning setting amidst the cornfields of Nebraska, we were there a couple of days ago, on July 31st. There were moments where I just sat there and enjoyed the quiet, interrupted only by the sound of the prairie breeze. I golfed with my son, who is 25 and profoundly autistic... he loves to ride in golf carts! :-D Anyway, I called ahead and asked if I might go out as a single, due to the fact that my son has some behaviors and makes some noises that might distract someone, or otherwise take away from their enjoyment of the course. Anyway, the staff was so accommodating and got us out as the last group, before the were shutting down tee times, due to their men's league starting at 5:30ish. Their efforts were so appreciated. The track was exceptional and omg, the greens were beasts... I'm not sure I had an even lie... but that's what made it so fun. Definitely challenged my game, which is already challenged! Anyway, those were the positives. On the other side of the ledger, a couple of things stood out to me. First, for a beautiful, highly rated golf course, there were cigarette butts all over the place and not just one or two, here and there... there were may, which I found surprising. and, this might not seem like a big deal, but when your son perseverates on cigarette butts, it becomes very noticeable! And lastly, a number of groups went out right before, as 3 & 4-somes... no problems. The issue I had was when they all started grouping together into 7-somes... pretty slow, and pretty annoying. A marshal would have been handy to speed up play a bit. Thankfully, I was only playing 9, otherwise, this would have been very frustrating. So, overall, incredible course and I would have given it 5 stars, but for the last two items listed here. Thanks to the staff for accommodating my son and I, it was truly appreciated.
