Description

Riverside's executive/par-3 layout is a quick, affordable walk in the south St. Louis area. Targets are straightforward, which makes it a welcoming place to learn the game. Veterans can attack pins and chase personal bests with wedges in hand. Pace of play is usually brisk, perfect for a lunch-hour loop. Facilities are simple—show up ready to play and get right to the first tee.

There is no driving range at this course. They do have a few netted hitting bays, a putting green and a chipping green. Pro shop was clean and well stocked. Staff were friendly and fast. Course was in pretty good shape but had been over watered in many places and the lies were very thin. Greens were running true and fast. Was hard to get a chip to stop on the green. They were mowing the greens and we had to wait a few minutes on two greens for the guy to finish mowing and put the flag back in the hole. Most of their golf carts won't connect with Bluetooth so you can play music. These are minor criticisms. Riverside is a great layout and an historic course, opened in 1929. We had a good day of golf.

Course was in excellent condition...but, gameplay was slow due to clubhouse allowing twosomes to join in at random places during play. Also, it would be great if the marshal can please monitor gameplay better by finding the slow group and tell them to pick up the pace or pick up their ball. Today I was told to turn in my cart early because it was getting late, no due to our gameplay but because of overbooking and allowing walkons to be put in regardless. It's ok to tell them no and to come back another day or mention to them one of the other great Alamo Golf Trails courses. Do better. thanks

Greens were rolling pretty good. ONLY reason I gave that 2nd star…. still a tad bumpy from the oversead where some of it didn’t hold and left dry spots….. fairways are absolutely trashed, hard to call it fairway when it’s pure hard dirt and NO grass. Rough areas have the most grass on the course. Bunkers were in good shape.

It’s probably tough to grow grass in San Antonio in February, but the course was hurting. Fairways had many hardpan spots as did the “rough”. I moved my ball several times so I wouldn’t damage my clubs from the pebbles in the hardpan. You could put from 30 yards off the greens in many spots. Layout was nice for a 97 year old course. I am sure it is much different in season, but right now it is mot worth playing.

First time playing course in 8-10 years. Good course for all golfers and fairly easy for mid-high handicappers. More sand traps than Northern, Olmos, Willow, and all military bases. I was in the sand on 4 holes and missed traps by inches on 2 other holes. Had a great time. Held up by slow play in front of us. Finished in 4 hrs 35 minutes. Players need to repair divots and ball marks. Our entire foursome was repairing ball marks on almost every hole.
