Originally a Roy Case design, The Refuge underwent a comprehensive renovation by Nathan Crace and re opened in 2021 with a friendlier, modern flow. Three new holes and returning nines create a fresh rhythm, while TifEagle greens and refined bunkering elevate shot values. The routing winds through native wetlands, but wider corridors and the Longleaf Tee System make it more playable for every skill level. The adjoining hotel and amenities give it resort polish without losing its local charm. It's a must play in the Jackson metro for both architecture fans and casual groups.

The Refuge is one of the best public courses in Mississippi. Beautifully maintained with a layout that’s both challenging and fun. The fairways are in great shape, the greens roll true, and the scenery is fantastic, especially around the water hazards. Staff is always helpful and friendly, and the clubhouse and nearby resort make the whole experience feel premium. Whether you're a serious golfer or just out for a casual round, The Refuge is definitely worth the visit!

Staff in the club house were great. Young lady in the bar food area was very attentive. The fairways fair and were nice with not very many bare spots. Lots of water.Greens were great and putted well and true. Not real fond of the aqua driving range but ok. Nice carts with GPS. Definitely will return here.

Great course for what it is. I can't really say much about the greens because they just punched them. I was notified before booking though so I knew what I was getting into. The course is in great shape. It is pretty open with some small bunkers and water in play. Only 4 stars because It is kinda "squishy" in certain low areas (not too crazy though) and I only saw the Cart girl once. Go play, you'll enjoy it!

The course is always in the best condition! The greens are on par with any pga course! For the price, this might be one of the best deals in golf anywhere? You feel like you’re on a resort course, without driving to Florida, or paying the price. The employees are always top notch too!!!
