Our family has been coming to Ruttger’s every Fourth of July for many years, and it’s become one of our favorite traditions. We love seeing the updates and improvements each year while still enjoying everything that makes this place so special. We take full advantage of just about every amenity—from early morning coffee over pickleball and golf, to boating during the day, and ending the evenings with the live music, water ski show, incredible fireworks, the hottub, the bar and even nightly ice cream. There’s truly something for everyone. That said, the highlight of every trip always comes back to the amazing bar staff. They make our experience a 10/10 every single year! We always make a point to rush over and see Nancy. She isn’t just an incredible bartender—she’s efficient, absolutely hilarious, and one of the biggest reasons we look forward to coming back each summer. We also want to give a special shoutout to Zach, Matt, and Fin this year. They were all fantastic and made our holiday weekend even more memorable. Thank you for another wonderful Fourth of July! We can’t wait to see all of your smiling faces again next year!

We came here for family vacation for 2 years now. Ruttgers accommodates us well with 6 different families. Great spaces for family picnics. Lots of swimming options & different types of boat rentals. Non motor boats are free to take on the water, the marina provides life jackets. Live music on the patio on Saturday evenings. The coffee/ice cream shop is a hit. I experienced 10 out of 10 Customer service from every worker at the resort. Bay lake is huge & absolutely gorgeous.

Stayed here for a wedding. They have a 5 pm check-in. This seemed late, so we called ahead and they said we could check-in as soon as the room was ready anytime after their 11 am check out. We arrived at 4 pm and our room was not ready, which was fine, but the lady working the counter was extremely rude and annoyed we arrived early even though the lady we spoke to on the phone made it seem like the room would be ready before check-in and we’d be able to get in. The room ended up being ready at 4:50. The rooms were a little dated. The trim in the bathroom was peeling up and nails were exposed. We were in a lower unit and couldn’t shower if the upstairs unit was showering. We also didn’t have hot water after the upstairs unit showered. The air conditioning is a window unit, so the room was not cool. The indoor pool was over chlorinated and burned my husband and kiddos eyes. The sauna was also closed. Our stay for 2 nights was over $700 and I was expecting nicer quality. There needs to be some major upgrades. If they are going to charge resort prices, then there needs to be resort quality rooms and amenities. I’ve stayed at campgrounds with nicer amenities. The food at the restaurant was good.

Exceptional Family Resort ! On beautiful Bay Lake. You couldn't ask for a more perfect venue. Just there for lunch on the patio & noticed that there are SO many property updates in the works. The Lakeside cabins are amazing. Make sure you plan a day visit or week-long vacation at a classic traditional resort in Minnesotas beautiful northwoods!

Pickleball courts are basically non existent. My fiancé and I booked this specific resort for a week thinking they’d have real pickleball courts. What you see on their website is not real. They no longer have the blue pickleball courts pictured on their website. You should make this more apparent before people drop $5000 to stay here.
