An absolutely awesome place. My wife and I came for our 25th Anniversary and we loved every single day of our 9-day stay. Other than the pizza, the food is a 10 out of 10. On top of that, the staff is courteous, friendly, professional and very well-trained. The Classic Grill is world-class cuisine as is their service. We highly recommend it.

It was a nice trip! We went here for a 3 day weekend. The food was great, decently priced, and there were a decent amount of options to eat at. The food all came out relatively quickly and the servers were all very attentive to things like water refills and simply being efficient. I highly recommend the bang bang chicken bowl! We stayed at the loft suite overlooking the eastern shore (sunrise villas?), room 2424. The sun would come up and heat up the bed nearest to the doors on the lower level. Not ideal, but not the worst thing ever. As well, the beds were rather uncomfortable, I was left with some stiff muscles in the morning. The upstairs bathroom had no full mirror and was relatively cramped, but the downstairs bathroom was nice. The lake wasn't busy at all, despite going in mid-July during a heatwave. The inflatables were a ton of fun! If lakes aren't your thing, we found just as much fun in the western side indoor pool with a sauna. On a Saturday night, we had the entire pool to ourselves. Really great setup for swimming, especially during the summer. We did the social 9 and enjoyed our experience golfing. Whether or not you can golf well doesn't matter, it's still a great experience. Other guests and staff were all polite and very friendly, super accommodating. I think it goes without saying, but the views were incredible and the timelessness of the lodge really stood out. The main lobby feels like you've been transported back in time, in a really charming way. You can feel the history when you walk through, and you feel a bit regal lol. Overall, we had a great experience. I would definitely come back. However, I should note that upon returning, I've noticed a lot of strange and unidentifiable itchy bug bites. I cannot earnestly attribute this to the resort and their cleanliness, because bugs are hard to deal with and hard to trace back, these could've been from the lake or the outdoors. But I think it's worth noting that there's a small possibility of bed bugs or some sort of irritating bug in the area. Keep that in mind, and check your bedsheets.

We really enjoyed our week at Maddens! Staff and patrons alike were incredibly friendly. A wonderful family-friendly experience with lots of activities - and we didn’t even golf! Everyone we met had been coming to maddens for years and years, some people even always staying in the same cabin since childhood. We stayed at a room in the historic main hotel; I think it’s just good to know you’re walking into a place that has been well loved. It feels a bit like stepping into the past; very quaint spaces. Everything was clean and comfortable however, just hadn’t seen an update in a while, which worked out just fine for us; but good to note for other travelers. We especially loved BINGO night! You could tell this is an important piece of Madden’s history and lore. Guests arriving 30min+ early to get a seat. The entire space fill up, and it’s very fun with cash prizes. We had Abby and Nora as our bingo callers and they made it SO much fun! We barely ventured off the property, enjoying sunrises and sunsets on the lake. I highly recommend this for large family groups!

Our family has been coming to Madden's on Gull Lake for over 20 years for our family reunion, and it has become one of our favorite traditions. Every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. The resort is beautiful, the grounds are always well maintained, and there's something for everyone—whether it's relaxing by the lake, golfing, boating, swimming, or just spending quality time together. The staff has always been welcoming and helpful, making each stay feel special. Some of our best family memories have been made here over the years. Watching the kids grow up, gathering around the lake, and enjoying time with multiple generations is something we truly cherish, and Madden's has been the perfect place for it. If you're looking for a place to create lasting memories with family or friends, I can't recommend Madden's enough. Here's to many more years of reunions at this incredible resort!

Beautiful resort on a wonderful lake with fun for people of all ages. We visited with family from 3 years to 82 and there was something for everyone. Our room was right on the water with a deck to sit on in the morning listening to the loons and watching the sun come up. (See photo from our first morning) The beaches are fantastic and one has inflatables to swim to that everyone loved. Our family enjoyed golf, pontoon rides, boot camp, build a bear, swimming indoors and especially in the lake.The food was outstanding and the service was delivered with kindness and consideration, the food was varied from a pizza or ice cream shop to the fine restaurants and it was delivered by the most kind and thoughtful people imaginable. If you are older and have walking challenges there is a shuttle available quickly with a phone call so that you don't miss a minute with your family. You can also rent a golf cart for a day or the week.
